Calm down about the firefox sunject people, i can officially say that firefox is better because i supported IE viciously a while back but then converted, firefox is more secure against pop ups, browser hijackers etc, is a better interface and has better features, this is why its better! ;)

Opera is the least-exploited remotely-popular browser.

IE has absolutely nothing whatsoever going for it. Really.

Wow, one in fifty use Opera? Not bad. What site is that from, though? I'm sure there's a great contrast between a techie news site compared to, say, an adult site or a site professing to offer free mobile ringtones...

Looks kinda hard to understand, looking at help files..

I'll give you a hand with it if you want. Persevere ? it's well worth it. Have a look at this and this for guidance.

Hmm, it is decent.
I like the fact you can have multiple pages open in one page and it looks better. Havn't really noticed any other differences as of yet.

hey thanks zombieloffe. ill try some of those ideas and see how they work.

There're hundreds. Try readin' the first of those links.

PS: whoops, just realised the Opera 8 one is presently being written. Have a look at the v7 one if you want to know most of the features. If you can find it. Try right-clicking and rolling the wheel, right-clicking and moving down and right, then letting go, etc...

I must admit Opera is alot better than IE.
A little confusing...but better.

@Alex:Reading the links now.

Hmm, after viewing the Scragz table test on both my optimized Firefox beta (with all tweaks) and a stock Opera. Opera got 1.5 roughly, and 1.7 for Firefox... although, after a reload, Firefox got 1.3 and Opera 1.6. I kinda like the way Opera shows more verbose information, but it's way too bulky, has a bad rendering engine, has ads, and is commercial. Firefox wins overall imo.

Erm, m0p? Who actually cares about a third of a second rendering time of something completely artificial? I reckon the feel of a browser and its interface is pretty much the most important thing. Okay, standards are great, but... hm.

By the way, Opera is more compact than its equivalent (Firefox + Thunderbird, which I myself use permenantly). Ads, yes... and no :).

How can you talk about compact? I can run Firefox with one bar (everything in menubar). Now, that's some space real estate.
m0p m0pIllogical.

I can run Opera with no toolbars whatsoever... but what's the point?

Actually, it'd be pretty usable still. I should give that a try sometime. Thanks :).

oh, btw seventh, there's something in opera that really scares me. up at the top of the browser, there are 2 buttons surrounding the spacebar. the one on the right takes me to google, and the one on the left takes me to the TWHL forums. why? i didn't put them there, it was something opera decided to do by itself.
Posted 19 years ago2005-04-24 14:54:53 UTC Post #105702
Ah, that's part of the corporate monitoring sys... <papers passed from the right of the screen> sorry, from some feature I missed because I've hidden most of the toolbars. Must be some kinda regularly-visited thing, or perhaps you accidentally dragged the TWHL favicon holder (in the address bar, just to the left of the URL) onto the toolbar?
