Interesting steam news:
In the coming weeks we'll also be releasing a Source revived version of Half-Life 1: Deathmatch. People who already own Half-Life 1: Source will receive this as a free download
Does this mean that regular hl2 users will not have access to this game? I'm sure I would play online and map more for HLDM:source than HL2DM :

Hmm.. I hope that we can play it too.. just the thought of good 'ol Crossfire with the source engine makes me warm inside :P

Well, it, kinda, says it's for HL:S owners only.

I doubt it'd be any better than HL:S itself.

Speaking of Crossfire, does anyone know where i can find a good quality remake for HL2? Most of the versions I've played are scaled up too much.

I had one version in which you couldnt even jump from one building to another because the windows where placed too high. And it had a cloudy sky. I think the nuclear blast didnt even hurt the players... It was totally un-crossfire :zonked:

I got the Bronze package, so no HL:S or HLDM:S for me. But its probably a waste of money anyway.

More than likely, especially after the poor effort that HL:S turned out to be. Black Mesa: Source: now that's a good remake of HL1!

I too love the original models, they are so wonderfully crappy :P
Especially the way that Barney "talks" when he's opening doors.

His mouth is moving to the "beep beep" sound that comes when he's unlocking :D

That it is, and we're working on remaking the classic HLDM maps properly for an improved HLDM classic mode. And it's free!

No offense Rabid, but I've heard hype before, and many times it just isn't as good as the hype indicates..

Black Masa Source looks pretty good from what I can see, but how big is it going to be, I mean, Halflife 1 was a mere 600-700mb something, But Black Masa Source has much more detailed models maps, sounds and everything, how big is it going to be. There will be no 56kers playing it. Thank god I'm 2mb! Phew!
Posted 18 years ago2005-07-30 17:27:55 UTC Post #124787
We're estimating around ~500MB.

We'll have alternate release methods for 56k and slower internet users. We're looking to getting it distributed on magazine CDs, etc, though it's a bit early to finalize all of that.

is hl:S released?

yes, but if you already have the orginal Halflife, I wouldn't waste money buying it.
