Xsi is a 3d Design/Animation program for all types of things. Its main program Softimage has been used for loads of thing including Halflife 2, the Matrix and The Incredibles.
Ish have you downloaded it? Once you download, in the netview it has an option to register so you can exsport your models, why they do this god only knows.

Ultra Shaders?

When I downloaded a developer video of HL2 I overheard they use the same technology that is used in such films like Toy Story...

XSI is like a model / shader program...

It's like an all in one program :D

It's a modelling application =|

Pixar uses their own, private, in-house program.

XSI is brilliant, and if you follow the tutorials it's easy to learn. not to mention very professional.

Yeah it's got a drawback for the price you have to pay to export. : but for the quality you want/need its well worth it.
:)

seeing as we're on the topic of XSI, and as seeing as all models need AI. Anybody know the first steps in programming AI? I suppose its just visual basic but are there any programs that set up defaults for you?

AI would be the most complex aspect of programming, from what I can tell- I bet it uses full-blown C++. You should talk to some people in #valveerc on IRC, they would be able to help you out on that. (Do we even have that many coders here?)

Uh, boyt, nobody uses VB for anything :|. I'm sure it uses MSVC++. Well, I know it does, from some lovely errors.
