Notice how the simpler a game was the better it was? Too many abilities destroy some games. Half life 1 IMO was the only game to retain the addiction element as well as give a massive ammount of movement.

Doom, was ok, but even back then, first persons were monotonous.

I wouldn't consider Doom 3 two dimensional.

NetHack, text Unix pwnage thing, extremely old, kinda fun. Err, modern games, probably Quake3, RTCW, Half-Life, RTCW: Enemy Territory. RTCW: ET is serious pwnage. BTW, if anyone wants a laugh, look what I did to Quake3:

And before you ask about the fps, I was experimenting with different fps caps to see which ones were better for trickjumping.

Just fine. Coloured letters are far more informative than fuzzy 16x16 tiles.

Just remember, don't hit a blue 'e'.

How did I accomplish this pwnage? I set:

r_picmip 10
r_vertexLight 1
r_subdivisions 999
r_fastsky 1
r_texturemode GL_NEAREST
r_dynamiclight 0

Btw, those screenies were taken on 2 botmatches, with skill on Nightmare, buhahahaha.

Forgot about Dune 2000 which is a nice game! :o And Fury of the furies is nice too!!
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-05 14:35:39 UTC Post #126110
Gotta consider Doom and Quake.

I still play Doom and Quake once in a while. And it still takes forever to kill that (Quake) huge white blue-flame shooting thing.

Yeah, that's good stuff.

Forgot about Dune 2000 which is a nice game! :o
Dune 2(000) was awesome back when it came out but now a days it's just ugly an C&C game with limited features.

On the topic: Dungeon Master is another great game. If you haven't yet, try it out. There are several modernized versions out.

m0p, That's not amazing. Almost every "real" quake-player use configs like that..
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-05 15:39:32 UTC Post #126137
How do you play in nightmare skill level?(in quake2) Hard is really easy!! :zonked:
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-05 16:05:06 UTC Post #126141
dajuppi, I know it's not amazing, just funny. Besides, most quake players don't use that config, since it's "illegal" on all TWL/CAL servers to use a picmip that high.
m0p m0pIllogical.
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-05 16:05:53 UTC Post #126142
Believe me I know my stuff when it comes to Pro Quake3. I used to play in a couple of TWL clans that were rather high in the ladder.

Transport tycoon deluxe too, with ttd patch :). I played it without that but it gives you much more features :).
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-05 16:18:09 UTC Post #126149
I also play with the ttd patch and it's the only simulation game that I played it for a really long time! What that really annoyed me that helicopters stoped being menifctured so i had to keep the old ones! :x
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-05 16:27:14 UTC Post #126154
In ttd patch it doesn'thappen well at least it didn't happen to me. What version did you used? And i also played it for a long time :)

Most boring game: Might and Magic VII (7 for idiots)
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-05 17:03:38 UTC Post #126161
Might and magic is a huge series, ive never player it though...

I too play with the patches. I also have gotten to 2050. Its not really too hard. Just build up your company till you get a decent profit and a good bank amount and just buy out your competitors. Then expand till there isnt a square left.

i reached 2070 - the maximum year as far as i remember. but i didn't have ttdpatch then. Now with ttd patch you can reach like 6546541212 year.
