I just got HL1 through Steam recently, and I have noticed that when I tried loading the last saved game, nothing happens. If I click on "Load" again and try loading it, the game would crash to Desktop.

When I start the game again, the saved game would load properly. Usually it loads after a few tries.

Does anyone else have the same problem? I can't find a solution on Google. Everything on the search result are regarding Half-Life 2.

Can't say I've ever come across this problem. You could try redownloading it, depending on your connection.

When I die in HLDM it says 'Blood toxins detected" instead of the beeping, is that supposed to happen? Its been doing it ever since I installed Steam. I don't play enough HLDM for it to get to me but I just need to know.

I really love how people expect a program to run 100% flawlessly on thousands and thousands of different configurations. Sounds so logical.

I had lunch with a friend who's a game designer yesterday, and he just recently quit his job. He's moving to Seattle, looking for a new job with either the XBox division at Microsoft or with Valve.

I kinda wish that he join Valve.

I solved the crashing problem by launching the game through the Steam menu instead of using the desktop shortcut.

Mephs, stop flaming. Just because I am not tied down to Windows :zonked:

Steam is a decent app, I've used it since BEFORE it's big official release and it has only had a few minor bugs here. Most bugs are caused by the users setup, whether it be network issues, or the fact that the user uses Win98 ahem mephs ahem. Very little errors are serverside, and most of them are because of the huge amount of users connected.

Whats so good about steam, exept that you can get better updates and play Hldm? :
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-30 16:00:08 UTC Post #131052
and play Hldm
I could play HLDM in the days of WON, but the automatic updates are great. No more searching for newer versions of the Spanish HL patches!
The only complaints I have with Steam are the fact that rho-bot doesnt work in HLDM, and it seems that there are more folders and subfolders than needed.
And you dont get better updates with Steam. You get the ONLY updates :)

Exactly. It ensures that everyone gets everything in one go. No downloading off dodgy FilePlanet servers!

Steam is good. Sure, it gets annoying at times, but it'll get better with more and more time. :)
