Seventh: Would there be an easy way to put a checkbox for each forum, under your 'Modify Profile', so that the user could see only those that were checked?

So that say for Joe user who's settings were:

*--HL design Q
_--Source design Q

• Maps 'n' Mods

_--Site Comments and Suggestions
_--General Discussion

...would only see HL design and Maps 'N' Mods threads on the homepage and/or forum area.

I personally would zap completely the 'General Discussion' forum. I waste more time in there making enemies, and not spending my time here as origianlly intended:

IRC is worse then the stuff forum! It's every spammer's dream. And thats because you spend alot of time in the stuff forum! You're still very helpfull to others!

What I'm really trying to say is that if I could eliminate--by unchecking--my view of the 'stuff forum', it would become impossible for me to be goaded arguments, I'd be better off avoiding in the first place.

IRC isn't worse at all. We've got an arsenal of ops to keep the spammers out, trust me.

Your idea is probably a bit pointless rowley: just try to avoid the forum.

Yeah I guess it would be easy to just not go to the General Discussion forum.

But it's sort of tough to miss the last post--when you first logon--, when it says something like:

Well, that whole box will be hidable in TWHL3. One'll be able to select which of the present (and possibly extra new) sections available appear on 'your' front page. I'm trying to make the new incarnation even more friendly and more customisable, you see :).

Hold that idea and raise you one.... how about "replyes to your last post" and "unread posts" links? Could make forum navigation lots easier?!
