I havent been doing nothing lately, mostly done some modwork, but in the past months i created this map for The Trenches. Its rather high poly set in a river based theme. Including a cave and bridge. All terrain has been done with vertex manipulation.

As mentioned before, this has been created for a mod called The Trenches, situated in The first world war, also called the big war.

Here are some screenshots, if you want to get a better feel of the looks i recommend downloading it, the mod is a excellent mod, though its still rather bland. But the team is working hard on the next version.

Actualy, no hunter. Optimazation reduced it to 25 minutes compiling, with full VIS.

@7th: I stand corrected :) I always mess those up.

Hehe the gun details are more detailed than DOD:S :D
Good map! The skybox suits it and the buildings are nice! I hate buildings, I never get them to look right...

Btw - it's nice to see a mod that doesn't take place in black mesa, or doesn't have freeman as a main character for a change.. :)

uhh, daubster there is tons of mods that doesnt take place in bm or doesnt have freeman
Nop, they dont have time for that.
yea, thats because they are probably lame :(

No, it is because they decided to concentrate on the western front(verdun). They already spend heaps of time brining out version 1.1 with a couple of new weapons.

And calling people lame because they offer there free time to create a high quality mod is somehow.... childish.

saco saco saco saco....

What can I say....

Did you think they were going to cover every aspect of WWI with absolutly no budget? Maybe... they could have a map that takes place in neutral Sweden where you just sit around?

I've played the trenches a few times and it looks to be a very promising mod. The rifles in the beta version are a little on the "too accurate" side even though they are bolt action types. Getting headshots was simple even with high ping and lag. Great work on the map pepper. It captures the look and feel of a WWI battlefield. Btw, mods such as the trenches as well as the battlegrounds prove that Half-Life's engine can be pushed to a certain extent in order to allow wide open areas. However, one must sacrifice quite a bit of detail to avoid excessive r_speeds as most of the map is rendered at once.

The null texture will get you very far on the optimizing side.

There mainly going for gameplay and a historical acuracy, obviously that doesnt go to well together. Still there aiming for quality, rather important for me to see in a mod.
