For a number of reasons. Partly because IRC is dying in popularity. Partly because
we want to concentrate on other areas. Partly because hosting companies don't like it. Partly
because it creates a load on the server we'd like to remove. Partly because it never really took off.
Marvin and the IRC server will remain online until the end of October 2005, after which it will be switched off.
It's been a fun few years, we hope you enjoyed it and hope you find a new home for your channels.

I'm indifferent, really. If I had my LINUX box up, I'd run the server myself, but since I don't, and won't have time to, I think we should just go wherever. I haven't been on another network for months.

Ant: maybe when I get a LINUX box sorted out, we can move again, to a dedicated TWHL server :). Hardly a major inconvenience: everyone who isn't a regular gets here from the IRC link.
