Ok so I have all the stuff I need to start mapping afresh but then, shock horror:

"Access is denied." - What the hell?

I have never heard of or experianced this problem before to memory so if it has been covered already I appolagise, any ideas on how to fix this?

Double check your configuration.

I've seen this popping up a lot lately--you'll also find a lot of these by searching the forurms for Access is denied-, and it seems to be caused by unspecified errors with your Hammer Setup-Game Configurations and/or Build Programs.

Noticed this. If you're using steam, this path--as well as the others--will not be correct. If this is the case try this tutorial.

Edit: I dont even have steam installed at the moment.

I removed my "Half-Life" config and then re entered it all, still the same old sh**. I will search the forum for more answers.

Post screenies of your Game Configurations and Build Programs dialogs.

Its ok, I managed to fix the problem.

Note to all users: If you are having trouble, DO NOT use the World Craft and ZHLT beta's - they are quite bugged.

Are you saying Beta ZHLT's was causing the "Access is denied" error, or were your paths b?rked as well?

It would be good to know either way, so we can better diganose this popular error, when it occurs.

My paths were perfect.

I was using the new beta of Valve Hammer, the very basic (one room and a light texture) map I made in didnt like HL, so I switched back to the latest complete version.

The Beta ZHLT didnt like the scenery either, ergo I downloaded the latest complete version of them, and bingo. Everything is go.

There's something wrong with your configuration. If there isn't, there's something wrong with your compile setup. I guarentee it.

No, there was nothing wrong with my configuration or compile setup. It was using the Beta Compile tools and World craft that it did not like.

and ZHLT 3.3 beta with no problems!

my mate had this problem with hammer 3.4
