This is a research lab nestled precariously in the caldera of an active volcano. Above the close-study platform, enclosed in a cube of concrete, are three levels: storage, recreation, control. The only means of access for scientists travelling to and from the lab is the weekly helicopter drop to the helipad on the roof.
This is a cut-down version of "LavaLab" (making a cut-down post-disaster variant of each of my levels is almost a tradition with me, these days, but this was my first.) The entire lab has been encased in molten rock, and is a lot more claustrophobic than the original...
Judging it by itself, it's still a good map.
Superb architecture, texturing. and lighting make this map a pleasure to walk through. Even though this uses original HL textures throughout, they're applied so well, you truly don't notice it. Excellent transitions from light to dark areas and to the lava area where you can almost feel the heat
I loved the glass observation structure above, the helipad area, and the detailed holes/damage in the computers looked superb.
Superb work! I must have spent 20 minutes, just walking around with my mouth open

The blocky cliffs are the main reason I decided to revisit the LavaLab concept in my new (almost ready to be released) Lab11_Lavalab. And Kasperg's comment on freedom -- well, let's just say that Lab11_Erupt will reduce the size of the map a little but, if I get it to work as envisioned, you will possibly have more freedom than in Lab11_Lavalab.
