A ruined village in a desert far away...

It's a medium sized, outdoor deathmatch map with plenty of destroyed buildings, supplies, props, open areas and hiding places.
The village is covered in dustclouds and every now and then is enveloped in a sandstorm that reduces visibility.
The map also has music :-)

The map isn't entirely finished, about 15% left to do. But as it is, it's complete enough to play and I wouldn't mind leaving it as is. (I still want to do a good 3D skybox and finish off the open area on the hill)

Please give this map a go. I don't know how many people still play HL2 DM but it's much fun. Post comments and let me know what you think

Really nice little map...I haven't loaded a DM map in a minute.

I am not going to break off a full review but will make a few points...

Like I said, loved the map but I did feel like I was in a bowl the whole time. I am sure with some action and a few players you wouldn't have time to notice this as much.

I did like the blowing sand effect but it really got on my nerves after awhile and I wanted it to go away. Maybe make it a little more random. Also, if you are spawned away from the start of the dust cloud then you can see it "start", as if with a switch from god.

And I would have loved to be able to jump from the first building on the right to the second building. That's just me though.

I am making a similar map and you gave me some great ideas so it wasn't a total loss for me to load the map and check it out.

I give ya 4 out of 5 just because the sand really bugged me...

Thanks for your thoughts Kdunivan, glad you like it. Think you can give it a run with a few players? I'd much like to know if the layout is any good for deathmatch, especially where I put the rpg (its a good camping spot, but its vulnerable and if you can grab the rpg and make it to the building on the other end of the map alive, you're sorted)

As for the bowl feeling, I haven't noticed it, I guess that's how the design of it ended up. But I can see now what you mean.
The dust works like this: It blows soft most of the time, then a sandstorm kicks in (more, bigger dustclouds and distance fog increased) but only lasts about two minutes, then back to normal. Sorry that this bugged you :-P
I should extend the map's boundaries so that the dust clouds can spawn further out and look more natural.

4 out of 5 is good for me :-)
What kind of map are you making?

Superb Stuff i've never seen a map with this effect!

+Sandstorm effect works well, and turns an otherwise very open map in spots to NOT just a killbox
++Superb destroyed/broken architecture.. you could copy and paste almost your whole map into any terminator movie..(a good thing!)
+music worked decently
++you put a lot of time into small detailing and it shows.. map looks sexy as hell...

I can't really think of any minuses after only giving it a quick look. I will play it again or pm me if you want to try some gameplay on a server..

Great work!
