It took two weeks to create the original layout of the map. From there I spent the next week on adding detail but ran into the entity model limit. The next week I spent improving performance, testing gameplay, and optimizing all areas to have better polygons and look better at the same time. That was my first month. The next two weeks I had, I spent on creating the sound effects, and getting the best lighting possible.
The lighting had so much work put into it, I have opaque entities casting shadows and blocking light in many areas making them look so much better than they would have without those changes.
The sounds as well were carefully taught out, there is no badly placed sound in the map, I also tried using env_sound but it did not work in cstrike. The map was also tested several times on large 32 player servers, Helping me solve game-play issues, find little bugs, etc.
The final thing I did, was make sure all the texture work is perfect, all the textures that had even the slightest of problems I fixed. I also added some special effects like the water caustics, and made custom textures in photoshop.
If you rate my map, please take in consideration all the work done, not just brushwork, as the brushwork is only about 25% of all the work put into the map. I'd like to be rated on Brushwork, Light, Sound and Gameplay!
Location: Havana, Cuba.
Counter-Terrorists: Prevent Terrorists from bombing key city locations. Team members must defuse any bombs that threaten targeted areas.
Terrorists: The Terrorist carrying the C4 must destroy one of the Key Locations. The aim of this attack is to cause terror amongst the Cuban government.
Other Notes: There are two key locations in this mission. A famous restaraunt and a government officials estate. The terrorists are cuban revolutionaries set on spreading chaos through havana.
