They're a bit more involved than one might think.

Included is a description of the entities used, a function diagram, screenshots, bsp, rmf.

Yeah i noticed that one but valve's are setup a bit different.
a scripted_sequence triggers after the animation is played. so if you just use the sequence to trigger the door, you won't get the scanning effect during the animation

Well, you should probably edit the title to be something like "Valve Retinal Scanner" so people don't mistake this for a clone of that one.
