In some areas the main language is Gaelic, and it is the official language of the country, but to be honest I think in the ten years I've lived here I've met one person who had it as a first language. The majority of the people living here would struggle to hold a conversation in Gaelic.

Yeah I understand, but thats my point of view This phone could be the next big thing. Since its modular, meaning it can have 3D screen, infra red sensor, hell i bet you could install an geiger counter.
It doesn't even have to be a phone, but a small modular computer.

Exactly the same like with computers when they originated, especially Amiga and Macintosh hard style fans.
And thats nothing out of the ordinary. What do you think? People are not dumb. Every child could assemble one of these after learning about it a little. Don't halt advancement because you cant see the potential in future generations.

Have you really not seen people with expensive smartphone who have no idea how to value the full potential of the phone? Some people buy expensive phones just for their pride. Only geeks will know how to assemble these bricks. It's a totally cool idea, but companies look towards profit in the first place.

Computers work exactly the same way Striker, you can change any part and install any OS. At first only those who needed it and had money to experiment bought them, but today every one wants one. If this lives up, companies can produce components and upgrades and compete once more for domination just like before, pushing technology advancement more and more.
Not like today when crappy consoles slow down everything.

I think it would be fantastic if something like this would come true. Of course, companies are too greedy and stay away from things like these. Or, knowing how the world works, these things would be brand locked or something. It's all about the money, sadly. But I'm all for it. I love the idea.

My first thought was that the swirly designs would get in the way, but I think they look nice on the shelves. And I'm not sure how much of an impact it would make if any, but the way your laptop is positioned in the second picture might help with cooling, seeing as it's over a large hole. I kind of want to add a hole to my desk now and mount a fan to it. I have one of those little cooling stands but it takes up a USB port and isn't that effective.
Anyway, while I wouldn't choose that design myself, I like how it turned out.
Penguinboy - fantastic idea
Thankies for this, it shall be helpful. =3
i have recurring dreams of flying the f-14. in the dream, i taxi from my front yard to the main street and commence takeoff..
SO, when an airshow comes to town it's a big thrill =)
I want a 'Badge of Shame' pure for participating :]]
Stu, I'm assuming the base model would just be a pre-assembled thingy.

Plus you can always upgrade the base card.
