I know this is off the topic, but I just wanted to mention that recently I had a dream in which I was strangely convinced that JeffMOD was Jimmy Carr, and I was searching through his journals and such to find whatever had made me believe that.

Fortunately, there won't be any new news posts between now and next Ant's-birthday, so we'll have a convenient view of how things have changed since now.

Because of some bullshit that went on with my computer, I'm now running an unregistered copy of Windows 7. It's the exact some one that was running on this computer before, but it refused to accept the fact that this is the same computer with two different parts. I'll have to get a new copy of Windows at some point so all the annoying little quirks go away, and I'll probably get Windows 10. But I have to come into some disposable funds before that happens.

So the tl;dr is that you've decided maybe you should pay for things?
It seems so strange to me that piracy is largely the modern replacement for demos. I guess those things gave people too much chance to try before buying.
It's neat if it works, but given that trigger_push could do the same things without clipping brushes or being restricted to a single texture, I'm not surprised this never took off =P

If you can stand to have it in your library, seems you could buy one of those complete trash games that are usually on sale for considerably less than a dollar.

This is all well and good, but you said "dollarey-doos" twice, which I believe is once more than is required for you to end up on some black list somewhere.

In Atom's floor, you have to find all four of the cards for the computer, then pressing the button will open the way to the next floor.
As for how I created the effect on my floor, I don't care to just give it away. You're free to figure it out yourself though. Here's a hint: at no point does anything leave the boundaries of the level.

I feel like I should argue that CAH, while damn funny, isn't so much a board game as a card game. But whatever. My girlfriend has that larger set that Tet mentions, we play with some friends every now and then. Sometimes the cards just aren't lining up enough to be particularly funny, other times it's hysterical. Generally at least hilarious, though.

Smallworld is a damn fine boardgame. I dislike games that feature chance as a core gameplay mechanic (dice rolls in particular), so it works well for me. It's more about strategy without being nearly as heavy or lengthy as something like Risk. It's also kinda funny. I really need to get one of my own. I'll also shout out to Talisman, which is pretty fun. Smallworld is better (IMO) and doesn't run as long, though. If video/board games are more your style, Armello is a neat little gem.

There's plenty of gameplay which doesn't involve the physics, so I don't know if you can really say that. On the other hand, you gots to remember, when this came out, physics like that was new. Why would they not make every effort to use it? Considering that, I wouldn't say they went overboard, I think it uses it well.

Thanks for all the tips, guys. I consulted with my brother last night, and, well, I'm glad people are recommending the GTX 960, because that's what I landed on! It's a touch more pricey than I'd hoped, but no matter.
Again, thanks! I'm sure this journal will come in handy again when I need another hopefully in a good long while.

To be honest, it feels a bit unfocused. Something like this seems like it needs to have more perspectives, or at least some way of keeping track of people's relative positions. Maybe both. In turn, cutting it into a highlight reel might also be a flawed approach.
/imo, not aware of what limitations you have, etc.
P.S. Still amusing though.

Or something.
By the way, no-one really answered my question.

Have a good one!

But, alas, I do not.
