That would be cool. I'm sure there's tons of ideas online. For solely paddling I'd highly recommend buying a cheap kayak.

You can put it under the seats I guess, it is kind of cramped. I'll probably take pics tomorrow with it loaded up and on the water.

Never too late to comment.

Gameplay is pretty fun. It seems concept oriented as I think you intended in that players hold the core area with the gauss and long jump.

It's nice that starting in the outer hall areas you've provided a bow so that you can have some chance in advancement to the core area.

Good luck on the remake.

Wow. Very simple but elegant nice geometry. And what a nice layout that seems like it will be enjoyable to play.

I really like all the details like the trusses with pipes running through them. The light bulbs are nice along with the fluorescent bulbs.

Attention was paid to detail which makes the map fun to walk through. Lets just see how it does in the server.

Also, although I really don't like the standard half life textures, you did a good job using them. Oh and the sky box isn't working for me, let me try to find out why.

Any book(s) you'd suggest?

I'm not a huge fan of novels.

My grandma used to work at a clothes making place and they had automatic cutting tables for it. Don't think they were laser though.

I'm not sure, i'll have to find out, just google if it's possible. It would probably catch on fire.

Full time jobs do offer security, but they sure wear you out which doesn't leave much energy for other projects. And at roughly twenty percent income tax in the U.S. before bills and expenses you're already hit pretty hard.

My employer doesn't deduct taxes from my pay so I have to manually set aside twenty percent each paycheck.

Captain has a good idea, you can bank waiting tables with such little effort. Take it from me.

Pretty nice little map, seems like it would play alright.

My only criticism would be that maybe boxes could have been placed more strategically to allow the player to jump down.

Oh and the textures, well. They're alright but could be polished up for such a small map.

Either way it seems like you've created an enjoyable level.
Commented 10 years ago2014-03-18 20:02:24 UTC in journal: #8350 Comment #40357
Yes it just wouldn't cut all the way through. And yes you can send multiple passes to cut through semi thick material but you need a special lens for thicker material. They cost about 300 USD or so...

If you want to cut out 3d objects you'd need a CNC machine which is really expensive or you could use a 3d printer. They are getting cheaper than they used to be. Some colleges have CNC machines you can use and machine shops have them of course.

Well it wasn't entirely cheap, right under 2500! For a laser cutter it's pretty cheap as the next level up lasers go for around 8000. They, well this one can cut 1/8" plywood, acrylic, really thin sheet metal I think and just about anything else that is as weak or weaker.

Cardboard, museum board, chipboard and paper are some other options.
Commented 10 years ago2014-03-15 23:28:32 UTC in journal: #8350 Comment #40352
Yea this is just a cheap one to get me by for now. Eventually i'll buy a nicer one. I'm going to get a 3d printer as well but not until later.

I didn't like blender's u.i. though I loved some of its features like weight paint. I think blender is good for animating your models and especially organic ones. I hate 3ds max's u.i. though I've hardly used it. I'd just browse youtube videos of various programs to see if you like them.

I use rhino 5.0 for modeling bc it's u.i. is extremely similar to hammer but it isn't good for organic modeling unless you get tsplines and other plugins. Rhino is around 130.00USD I think for student version, you have to have a student email.

btw you should just try blender since it's free... I remember picking it up pretty fast.

@Strojke, Thanks! Glad you found it. Yea I didn't get to finish my secret as I ran out of time.

@Dimbark, Thanks a lot! What you can see is the secret area, I ran out of time so couldn't hide the area.

@Rimrook, Thanks i'm glad you liked it! I'm glad someone commented on the leaves and butterflies. I got the leaf idea from the fishing pond in Zelda Twilight princess.
Great ideas on fixing the height, maybe someday i'll change it to where you can access the higher areas. I tried making the waterfalls come to a point but it looked odd but maybe if I did extend them further it'd look nice.

@Captain, Thanks! Hope you enjoy it.

Edit: Fixed missing texture

Yea I agree with everything you said.

I ran out of air space because I ran way over on clip nodes and had to clip off the top portion of the cliff wall. It would have also revealed that portion of the map and I couldn't hide it as I was running over on patches as well. It wasn't worth sacrificing the texture sizes as they began to get pretty big.

At least I can blame most issues on the game itself, it's a shame you become black when standing on some entities.

As for the water reflection effect, I agree the edge looks strange but with the angle of scroll it would be impossible to fade it. Unless I made it squared but then it would nullify that the light was causing the reflection.

Thanks for the review!

Btw, did you find the secret? There's a hint in the readme.

Thanks! Captain, it's a 40 inch hd tv. The size of the screen makes up for the resolution loss but when i'm using drafting programs it becomes annoying as the lines have a white glow next to them. Honestly i'm happier with a small regular monitor "the kind without the glossy look".

Yes well it's designed so I can watch tv from bed and hook my laptop up to it as well and use the desk.

Edit: I realized my 22" computer monitor is 2.10 times higher in pixels per square inch than my 40" tv monitor! And you're right striker, my eyes were starting to hurt from the tv monitor.

I got them from craft stores i.e. Habby Lobby and Michael's. Here's how to tie the cord.

Video

To attach the watch, stop brading the knots half way across the bracelet. Remove your watch band pins and bands, then place the two middle pieces of paracord under the pins and replace the pins. This may be tough to fit them under and you may have to slightly bend the pins with pliers. Once the watch face is in place continue brading, the first knot after the watch face is actually opposite from the pattern, to make the knots jump across the watch horizontally, you'll understand when you learn to tie the knots. The rest is explained in the video.

Here's how it should look from below

This is all how to do it with one strand/color. To do it with multiple colors like my grey and black one search multiple color paracord bracelet on youtube. The rest applies.

Thanks I really appreciate it!

Yes it is pretty high up, I think I went as high as I could.

Sorry for making some of you jealous I hope it's a good jealous. :) Also I did have some help i.e. studying architecture and some help from friends building. I also worked on some tree house designs with friends at school for a few semesters.

Tetsuo, if you start to consider building one take it from me, safety first, don't just make a sexy design that isn't extremely safe. I myself feel a little uncomfortable walking on mine.

And yes i'll be better visually representing it soon!
