I've spent so much time on IRC in the past few weeks. It draws me away from work, and makes me un-productive. Meh, oh well.

I got a "Leaf saw into Portal" Error on my Megaman map, and I don't know how to fix it
So Im going to start over. I didn't have much work done on it n the first place, so it wont be much of a set-back. Also, I didn't like the set-up anyway, I swear I'll finish this thing. Promise.

I playtested my aim_submerge map with some friends, and I thought it was pretty fun, I noticed the nasty face splitting, and a few mis aligned textures, but it was cool otherwise.

I released a map the other day. It was called aim_submerge. I didn't really like this map, but rowleybob did, so I was wondering if anyone else does. If you people like it, I will re-make it (with some of Rowley's suggestions included) Go ahead and try it out, let me know what you think.

Kind of a mini update. I came up with a unique idea for lighting my de_syrinx map. The layout and everything is done and Spawn points are set... and oh yeah.. NO LEAKS! It is really easy to find and fix links with the displacement method*.
I read an article by DaveJ about gameplay and layout, and I took his advice. It takes exactly 13 seconds for either team (CTs and Ts) to reach the bomb target. this makes a wonderful choke point. I added some little diddies like evidence of how each team arrived at their spawn points (ex: rope leading down from ceiling).
The only work left is some texture alignment, and maybe a little more detail. I made sure to check to see if you could plant the bomb in a place where CTs coundn't defuse, and I fixed them (Its really annoying when Ts plant the bomb between 2 crates).
Ill post some screenies, either tonight, or tomorrow. Expect the map to be ready within the week. I've got Xmas vacation, so I'll have some quality time to work on it.

Make a large brush in the shape of a cube, and cover a big portion of your map with it, and run a minimal compile(No RAD or VIS). If you come up with a leak, move your cube to a different area of your map. Continue this until you have no leaks found during compile. Make the cube smaller to pinpoint the leak, each time compiling after changing the cubes size, to ensure you still know where the leak is. Continue this until you have a small area to search, and look for the leak, and seal it.

I've gotten a lot of work done on my map. I decided to call it de_syrinx, I used egyptian textures. I had to deviate from the original design a little bit due to height inaccuracies. I expect to finish the map soon, after I fix the leak (!)
In other news, I'm almost done with "Legend of Legaia For those of you who have played it, you know how good a game it is. For those who haven't played it, I suggest you go out and buy it, before its gone forever. It is on the Original PSX so not many copies are still floating around.

.I've been struck by a creativity bone.. here is a map layout that just popped up and smacked me in the face...

I got to playtest my Map all day at school today, It was fun. My reason was that it needed some serious debugging becaus I was using a [made-up-word]Vector Grafting[/made-up-word] design program. I also debugged many other maps such as "Scoutzknivez" "fy_iceworld" and "ka_legoland."
During the debugging process, I had lots of fun abusing Admin. I bound 5 to sv_gravity 200, 6 to sv_gravity 800(normal) and 7 to sv_gravity 7000. When I saw someone jump I would press 7 (sv_gravity 7000) and they would come crashing down into the ground =)
After the debugging, I ended up removing the annoying ditches in the forts, removing two player spawns (you got stuck in the ceiling) removing some colts sticking into the floor, and I will eventually change the sky (so it matches the brightness of the rest of the level) and add a few more player spawns.

My english teacher decided to give us a week to develope a term paper on how greek literature has influenced stuff.. so I'll be working hard..
On top of that she told us to read 100 pages in our "Atlas Shrugged" Book, which is very dry.
Also. the SATs are on Saturday. (I don't know if they have SATs in other countries, but think of it as the primary thing colleges look at when you apply.)
Also also, I'm being pressured by my Computer teacher to get my A+ Certification (base Computer Certification, required by most every computer company) before the end of the year.
Also also also my boss is out, so I have to cover his shift.. making me the only person at work doing IT.
So I have a lot of work to do, and I wont be checking in to TWHL as much now.. so bye for now.
But the good news is.. 102 Days on TWHL!
