Hey all.
I've been away for some time. Doing.... Things....
The band has been taking off so I'm my free time I've been focusing mainly on music and supporting the band. I've been making animated promos with blender and my 3D art is actually featured on the album cover.
www.positivechaos.com

I've also come a long way as far as my career.
For YEARS I wanted to do SOMETHING with rockets. I quit my job in CT and moved to Florida to chill with the band. I got a job doing amusement park rides (think Disneyland) which was cool but it wasn't rockets. (Actually the job sucked big time, it was only cool in theory)

Now I'm doing rockets.

I support ULA (United Launch Alliance) during launches by monitoring for gas leaks during fueling and post launch.

I made it into the last Twitter promo video: (I'm @ 14s in the silver shirt standing behind the control console)
ULA (@ulalaunch) Tweeted:
At ULA, our team and our rockets have a tremendous responsibility. https://t.co/VKTmQUFYnL https://twitter.com/ulalaunch/status/1207948332846518275?s=20

I'm also supporting Blue Origin by being on the engineering team that is building their launchpad.

This isnt just me promoting my band or showing off about rockets.. I want to tell all of you to never give up. Keep making small steps towards your goals and you can realize them. When I failed out of college I thought I screwed up big time. But I kept at it and 10 LONG years later I'm here.
I wish all of you good luck in your life and hope you have good health in the new year.

My desktop is gathering dust.
My laptop is used to look for jobs and record demos.
My garage is full of old cars and car parts.

However... My band has been recording an album. That's been taking most of my time away from mapping. How I wished I could have entered the last compo.. I started a map even.

The band is Positive Chaos.
The song is King James.

Give it a listen if you would, there's more coming.

As an American, I don't know a lot about the other cultures of this world. But what I do know, is that during the weekend of Saint Patrick's Day, in the United States, everybody is Irish.

This holiday might not make sense to a lot of people, but in the United States, the idea is to get drunk with Irish whiskey and beer, eat Irish food, and have a lot of fun.

Quite frankly, it's my favorite holiday.

Everybody wears green, everybody gets together and Cooks good food, brings good beer, and we all have a lot of fun drinking for no reason, other than some silly holiday that says hey... We should all drink and have fun.

Anyway, TWHL, all of you have been great to me, and I wish you a happy Saint Patrick's day, and I hope you all have enjoyed some delicious beverages, enjoyed some delicious food, and I have had a fantastic night/ weekend.

Life update.

May 5th 2017: I quit my job at a chemical plant because I was not happy. I decide to move to Florida because: 1) I don't like cold weather, 2) why not.

May 12th 2017: I fly to Florida to an interview with a company my friend works for. Not exactly a position I really wanted but it was a job and I was unemployed.

May 13th 2017: Friend gives me a business card for a tech recruiter down in Florida.

May 14th 2017: I email recruiter and get a phone call back for an impromptu phone interview.

May 17th 2017: Fly back to boring rainy Connecticut.

May 24th 2017: Skype interview with recruiter. Goes well. Presents opportunity for neat job, thinks it'll be a good fit.

May 25th 2017: Recruiter has lunch with managers from job opportunity. They seem excited. He's excited, I'm excited.

May 30th 2017: Phone interview with new company. Went well. I laughed, they laughed, we talked about TWHL and my misc game development and programming experience. (neat)

June 4rd 2017: Begin move from CT to FL

June 5th 2017: Complete (mostly) move from CT to FL

June 7th 2017: Face to face interview with same company I had phone. It went well. I laughed, they laughed, we went more into my VG experience for some reason. 5 hours later they offer me the job, I accept. I have a job.

So I was unhappy. Made a handful of significant changes and I'm on my way to being happy.

The job: Designing and programming amusement park rides.

Real. Life. Videogames.

Oh my God

I'm streaming on Twitch!! Www.twitch.tv/tetsu0sh0

Well not right now...

I plan to stream every Tuesday night at around 8:00pmEST EDT (GMT-4). possible Sunday streams as well depending on how my weekends go.

I'll be mostly mapping but there might be some modeling thrown in there too. This will be related to half life 1 and 2 mapping and modding.

There will be a lot of trial and error but that's how it goes.

Tune in tonight for the first scheduled stream!
I'm working on a hl2 map where there's half fps problem solving and action, half 3rd person space shuttle flying.

Last time on the stream I got the ship controls working but they're difficult to use and they can be vastly improved. I'll be upgrading the control scheme tonight!

I hope to see you there!

To my friends and acquaintances; the good people of TWHL.
Life is certainly strange... A fact I have been constantly reminded of over the course of these last few weeks.
I have been going through a rather drastic series of changes in my life recently, and it hasn't given me much time to create the worlds that I once used to love creating.
The simple truth that I have been realizing is that I no longer feel any desire to map. It was something I did to distract myself. Something I did in my moments of weakness to build myself up and give me confidence in something because I thought i was halfway decent at it.
I would get absorbed and consumed but my motivation always faded and it all eventually became tedious work towards an end result that never seemed worth it once I invested so much time into it.

Truth is i don't like mapping anymore. It seems.... Like a nostalgic idea now. Something I used to love doing and have such a fond memory hammering away at these crazy ideas... And the worst part about nostalgia is that it's never the same once you try to go back in time. You get the taste but it's never as sweet as you know it once was.

My life and hobbies surrounding it have turned away from gaming as a whole. I no longer strive to make it in the gaming industry or develop a one hit wonder mobile game or a gripping multiplayer game that's refreshing and new...

I've undergone a transformation this year. Broken out of my chrysalis if you will... Really matured into who I should have been about 5 years ago.

Which brings me to my point... I'm sure some of you have noticed my absence. My apologies for going MIA when I started an ambitious project. I wanted a taste of glory and success that Urby had with TWHL Tower (cheers btw, epic work)
But I myself didn't want to put in the work; and I still don't. I'm forfeiting ownership of the mod and I'm removing my name from it.
So sorry for that. I shouldn't have committed to that project but i was in denial about a lot of things in my life.. It was a poor distraction for some things that desperately needed my attention.
Such as my health and well being as well as the health and well being of those around me.

So this is my note to all you regulars.. I'll skulk the forums and drop by from time to time because really... Nobody ever truly says goodbye to this website... There's the occasional question that I'll immediately know the answer to... There's the journal post I'll drop a comment into.. But maps or mods... Don't count on it..

This isnt a goodbye; more like a "see you around".
Thanks for listening, thanks for being such a large part of my life.

Got a new RC car! Kinda...

While it's not totally new, it's new to me. It's a 1988 Tamiya Grasshopper II. It's as old as I am!

Video
Slow Motion 240fps

My old boss gave it to me as a gift because he hadn't used it in quite some time and left the batteries in it to leak and get the controller all nasty. I cleaned it up, replaced some battery terminals, re-soldered some joints and it works great!

Here's an album of the tear down - Tear-down and a cat

Paint nite!
Yes that's the correct spelling, silly Americans and our butchery of the English language. It's a company name, so that's all their fault.
Anyway, at a Paint nite event, you have a few glasses of wine / beers / your favorite liquor, and you follow along with an artist and paint something.

Last night was a cat sitting under a tree:

Cute right? Kinda lame though, and I'm not a fan of pink.
I was following along well enough up until about halfway through:

Looks alright. My tree upon the empire of dirt. Everything's grey-scale for now.
It came time to draw the cat and I thought to myself: "Nah, let's do something cooler".
