Played the L4D2 demo today at a friend's house. Seems like a good game, new weapons, infected, refreshing daytime maps.
Should be DLC though, or at least have people who own L4D1 get a big discount.
Also, most of the regulars on the TWHL group got friend invites, so check your comunity tab. If I missed anyone who wants to be on my friends list, just send an invite my way. I still check it on web steam every so often.

Now to get highspeed at my place...

people without broadband should be eliminated from the gene pool

:(
It's not my fault, it's the government's fault for not providing basic internet to their citizens!

The new features added to the engine itself would be a little hard to put in as mere DLC. Not to mention, for Xbox they'd have to charge for it, HAVE to, and then people that don't buy it won't be even able to play old maps with people that do have it since they're no longer using the same version of the engine...

...Then discount.

l4d 2 is made for retarded people. Even a 4 year old can play it.

I found that a suprising amount of people I played with were doing terribly.
(I don't think I had anything to do with it, though)

"it's the government's fault for not providing basic internet to their citizens!"

What?

Governments should provide highspeed to it's citizens, or at least make companies lower their prices.
Internet is becoming more essential than television, so it should be available to everyone for cheap prices.

Edit: If your government provided the entire country with a free connection, it would still have to be a slow, cheap one. There just isn't enough money to fund high-speed for everyone, nor is there any need. There never is-- the whole point is to provide just enough to get by, and that's why things like personalized health care are always a better choice if you can afford it. Not to mention you're a lot more susceptible to being arrested for all those illegal things you use the internet for if the government is providing for you.

And you'd still be paying for it, just not up front.

Yeah, I guess. I just wish it was more affordable, because my family doesn't have an extra $50+ to spend on monthly costs.

Well, here in Australia, in most areas, dialup connections are incapable of high-speed broadband. The tech just isn't there.

And what's more, I actually got back into playing L4D, the best thing is the lag does not really effect gameplay all that much.

...Until it gets really bad.
I actually got saved from the horde by lag today, I was surrounded, and suddenly I was a bit back, away from them. :D

Teleporting because of lag can yield strange results :P

"l4d 2 is made for retarded people. Even a 4 year old can play it."

You're a fucking troll.

I think he's refering to the fact that he IS a 4 year old lol ;P

He certainly sounds like one, but he has a smidge of a point.

Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 are made for the masses. That is the Halo-loving, I-lack-depth masses.

People who have always enjoyed Valve's work can still have fun with it for a while, but it's brought so many mindless idiots over it's not funny. The Steampowered forum for L4D2 is proof of that.

"but it's brought so many mindless idiots over it's not funny."

I thought Counter-Strike already took care of that.

So did I. But I found some idiots yesterday; a teamkiller, a guy who left after we were all dead, leaving just his character and the coach bot, (who did nothing against the last infected, other than helping the AFK player up twice. We died from that, btw) and some people who just couldn't play the game right.
I remember sucking at L4D1 when I tried it at my other friend's place, yet I'm fairly good at L4D2, and others suck. :\
Commented 15 years ago2009-11-08 09:56:29 UTC Comment #60481
They're a different class of people. Elitists. :P

Equally as mindless, though.

You do have a point strider, although I haven't had to deal with that since maybe a month after I bought L4D, by then I had met enough cool people while playing the game, and therefore always had at least 8 people to join a game with. L4D gets real old if you aren't playing with friends.

That's why I don't play versus unless I'm positive most of the people in the game are my friends, or friends of my friends.
Commented 15 years ago2009-11-08 15:27:47 UTC Comment #60497
Of course, if you're playing with people who take the gameplay seriously it can be fun too; I didn't know a single person I played with, and aside from the teamkiller and the AFK guy, I had a fun time with all of them.
