Honestly though, I can't see how you'd get $800 of functionality out of this one. It's too huge to be a palm PC, which puts it in the netbook category (..eh?), where it's basically nothing. I wouldn't have been surprised to see a slightly bigger palm PC version of the iPhone, running some mobile OSX ver., but this just doesn't make sense. Not to mention no multitasking, even the iPhone can do it.

Fact of the matter is, the iPhone was actually great for a phone. It had all the necessary functions of a 3G device, and more, plus the excessive amount of apps made it highly customizable for whatever needs you have. I probably would've gotten one myself if I didn't prefer having all my gadgets (phone, mp3 player, camera, etc.) as separate entities, not an all-in-one
monstrosity, or didn't mind touchscreens in general.

The ipad, however, does not perform any task better than your average netbook. Hell, even the fanboys are running out of things to say in its defence. Some of the arguments from the macfag side I've seen are that it "doesn't make you feel like you're at work", or that "multitasking is for internet dorks". 'Nuff said, I think.
