Admer456 Admer456If it ain't broken, don't fox it!
For me, the semester ends by the end of May. Finally...
So, let's see how I'm doing, regarding the subjects:

Bosnian - One test left (will be an A)
English - One test left (will be an A, too)
Turkish - A
Maths - A
Physics - A
Biology - One report left (will be an A)
Chemistry - One presentation left (will be an A)
History - A
Geography - A (at least I think so, I might have an oral exam left)
P.E. - A (lol, everyone's got an A in P.E. this year)
Art Class - A
Tech Class - A
Music Class - Composition recognition test left (will be an A, hopefully)
Islam Class - A

So, it's been 9 years, and I'm finally going to finish elementary school.
Then I'll go to high school, uh-oh.

(in my country:
Elementary - Grades 1 to 9
High - Grades 10 to 14
College/Uni/Etc. - depends on degree)

Man, time flies fast, doesn't it? I mean, I remember thinking about this moment when I was in 6th, 7th and 8th grade. I knew it was going to happen and it's apparently going to happen. :D

Also, there isn't much left, seriously. We'll have an excursion to Montenegro from the 17th to the 19th of May and then a prom at the 26th of May, so that is 3 days less to count. In short, it's just 6 days left minus the weekends and those events.

And I'm so happy because of it. This summer, lots of stuff will happen (I hope), including:
  • Buying and building that dream PC :D
  • Opening a bank account
  • My cousins from the USA will come and stay here for a month or two (and they haven't been here since 2011)
Looks like the patience will finally pay off. :]

But after that becomes history, I'll be worried. Because I'll have to decide which high school to sign up.
I have 2 options: the general high school in Stolac (my town) and the electro-technical high school in Mostar.

Since at least 2 of my classmates will also sign up for the ETS in Mostar, I'm encouraged to sign up there, too. We won't have stupid classes like biology, geography, chemistry, music class etc. NO! We will have stuff related to I.T, tech and robots.

The only 2 downsides, perhaps, will be the fact that I'll have to take the bus early in the morning every day and I'll have to buy my own food (whereas here I carry some snacks into school from home). Bummer. But I'll not let those 2 silly reasons stop me from studying what I love.

This year is so good, I love it! :D

Edit:
Alright, adding some context for that "This year is so good" sentence...

So, this year I was gifted some more games on Steam. Some people who buy games on a regular basis have no idea how meaningful this is to me.
Then, a moderator from a Far Cry modding site sent me a PM, offering me some spare parts. I told him that we'd talk about that in summer.
And, the most recent addition to the kindness of others towards me was an admin from another modding site saying he'd give me a copy of Windows when I build my dream PC. Wow, I'm so lucky, aren't I?

Well, I'll certainly have to take those offers with a grain of salt, because you never know whether they really mean it or not.

I'm not sure if this is so, but I've always been nice to other people on the Internet (I can only recall swearing and behaving badly 5 or so times). I think that me being nice fired back on me, lol. I'm glad if it is. Karma, I think that's the word for it.

Next, I've started socialising a bit with my classmates. I talk more with them, and we laugh at stuff and sing Serbian war songs during the breaks.
My social situation is much better compared to what it was 1.5 years ago.

So yeah, this year is so good, it's even the best one in my life for now. I love it! :D

I could comfort you, lol.

A few advices on moving to high school (if you won't like to find it out on your own).

Take technical - technician looks better in CV and allows you to take on better jobs.

If you can keep up your grades, go for some scholarship. It's a nice financial boost.

Early morning bus sucks, but you can spend the time on bus stops and in the bus socialising, if social life is your concern. Get a car and drivers license once you can. Check if the school rents rooms in a flat for students it you don't want to take bus every morning.

School can't really tell you that you can't carry your own food with you, sitting hungry for several hours is counter productive and leads to several gastric problems, so if they do disallow, that have to provide you with a school shop at least.

Check it you really need a bank account - I'm about to go to college yet I still don't have one...

learning music doesn't suck, man :P
Music is a way to turn emotion and thoughts into something audible. It's a creative way to express something. The connection you can have with music is unique!

But we're not learning how to compose music!

We learn about music periods (renaissance, classicism, baroque etc.) and we learn how to sing local folk songs, and then we study the people who composed some stuff (Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin etc.)...

It's just annoying to study the same topic for 5 years already (yes, we've done Mozart in 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grade), I wish we learned more about music theory, notes, chords, scales etc.

And the school doesn't even have a piano! It actually has, but it's sitting in a dark basement under the staircases.

@Snehk
Oh yes, you haven't seen my "Epik master plan" journals.
I need the bank account only and only for games so I can remove these stupid limits from my Steam account. Yeah, I can buy physical goods with cash, so I won't need a card there. XD

And don't worry, there is a shop nearby, and a bakery on the other end of the street there. I probably won't have problems if I get used to buying stuff. I've never bought my own lunch (or anything for that matter) since 2nd grade.

OK, bad news...

Apparently, I won't go to the ETS in Mostar because of:
  • Most of the experienced professors left
  • Students are starting to get worse and worse in that school
  • I'd have to wake up at 4:30 in the morning, get to the bus at 6:00 and endure 3 hours of driving until I get there, and then survive 6 to 8 classes and then take 3 hours more to get back home and I'll have very little time to study. __
Looks like I'll have to attend the general high school.
But hey! If I complete the general one, I'll be able to sign up any college in my country etc. and as for the programming stuff, I'll make up for it by toying around with C++ at home, lol.

"- Students are starting to get worse and worse in that school"

What do you mean with "worse"?
Commented 6 years ago2017-05-14 21:34:26 UTC Comment #68154
Both in grades/scores and in behaviour.

That school was great a couple of years ago but it seems to be decaying these days. I have no idea what's exactly happening with them, but I can only assume that the generations are getting worse and the experienced professors are leaving the school. :/

My future is uncertain, sadly.

Nowadays, C++ is more used for video games, some "specific consumer applications" and teaching concepts of a low level programming language. If you are aiming at a "developer" career like myself, then common web languages (HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, SQL) and high level programming languages like Java and C# is where you need to go.

Also, techniques, terminology and other stuff in programming is way more important than the language itself because the "client" has the final word on the languages and technologies you work on (and he don't care if you like it or not)

But video games are perhaps exactly what I'm going for.
I'd also learn C# along the way, though. :3

But hey, it's better than what we did in 7th grade: QBasic! HA-HA-HAAA!

Any role in particular ? AI ? Engine ? Gameplay ? Console/PC port ?

It's odd how I wanted to learn programming in order to code for GoldSrc and CE1, yet now I want to learn it for more things than that.

I don't know what to choose yet, seriously. I think it will be like my current situation:

Basically, my best personal skills are mapping, texturing and video-editing. The rest is pretty basic.

So I'll have a similar thing with programming. I'll specialise in some specific things while I'll have a basic, general knowledge about the others. For example, it's like knowing maths in order to use them to help solve a problem in physics, while physics is my main focus. Something like that, I'm not sure.
