I already told my mom to stop buying pork meat
I guess you entirely missed the first page where I said that you can't get this from eating pig meat? Oh well, you'll be healthier anyway.

I thought the whole point of marriage was so you don't have to do that anymore.
Just at first, then you get nostalgic for the days of olde.

Oh my, aren't we the mature crowd.

Dude... if you already have Half-Life with a valid CD key, you don't pay for shit. You just register it on Steam and get a load of free back catalog games along with it. That's what I did. Didn't pay a cent.
Yes. I do have it somewhere, I'm just too lazy to install it. Any particular advantages over the version I'm using?
Huge advantages. Some stuff from newer maps won't even work on that old version, plus bugfixes, etc.

It's not a big deal. People have nothing better to do except getting worked up over petty shit like this. Next they're going to try and make it illegal to stare at people's houses because it's an invasion of privacy.

in Wadinclude issues Post #265242
You don't type "-wadinclude filename.wad", it's just "-wadinclude filename" with no extension. Or at least, that's how it's done through Hammer. But Nem's front end lets you browse for WADs, right? So in that case, it's the program doing it. So maybe I'm wrong about that.

You've also got a crapton of missing textures, it appears.

...I'm suddenly feeling incompetent about mapping.

They're still offering regular security updates for Windows 2000, you know. XP is FAR away from being a deadbeat OS. There are people out there who don't even know that Vista or Windows 7 exist, and Microsoft doesn't just go around cutting off support for its most broadly used application. I think there's three classrooms in my whole school that even contain Vista machines, everything relevant is on XP.

Well, we've had some pretty bad cases in the past, many of which I was involved in. I remember some guys who could barely type English and made no sense at all, and everyone would just jump on the bandwagon and start mocking them. That was kind of cold-hearted, but there wasn't much else that could be done, so we made light of it. To be honest NineTnine, I'm not even sure why you're mentioning this. It's not much of an issue right now at all, and it's already been said that Yodalman is anything but green here on TWHL. Care to provide any other examples?

ATDestroy, Valve has said that Gordon is not technically mute, they just wanted YOU to be in the shoes of the character, which hearing yourself speak kind of destroys. In my opinion though they took it a bit farther than that in HL2 with Alyx commenting on your somber personality.

And yeah, this IS the hello thread. :\

Well I was thinking this was like a PIII 400 MHZ or something crazy slow. You shouldn't have to reduce your RAM usage at all, and in fact you should be able to increase it from the default setting.

in It's Not Hammer Time Post #264752
Your draw distance may need to be lowered as well, though I don't know if that would actually fix your problems as that's more to do with rendering than RAM consumption I believe. I've never seen anything like the constant cycling you described, but I believe there's some method of manually cycling through overlapped brushes in Hammer (I don't think I ever used it). Just how old is this computer you're working on, anyway?

In any case, best thread title ever.

The only stoopid people are the ones who don't realize IE is fatally integrated with their operating system, and disuse of that program does not remedy the security issues.

Pfft, good luck. The story sticks a bit close to reality to be believable for my taste. The fewer real-world references you make, the less you'll have to go out of your way to accommodate them. The CIA, Guantanamo Bay, and Dubai all have loose ends you'll need to tie up with either lots of explaining or pure fiction. That's just what I've found when trying to put real life stuff in mods. It's difficult.

I hate working with Dreamweaver too, though it's the only way I'll ever be able to make a website simply because I don't care at all about learning how to do it the right way. You really do have to trick the program into doing what you want, because it fights against you as hard as it can at every turn. Do what Penguinboy said and put each graphic in its own cell, I'm all but certain that will fix it (I've had similar problems).

in Unreal Editor Post #263914
I took this little three day long class on using Unreal Editor with UT2k4 when I was 13 or so. It was pretty hard to get used to, but I remember Hammer felt ancient after I started getting used to it. With Hammer, something like 85 percent of the faces you make in the mapping process go completely unused and are just deleted in the compile process. It's such an inefficient method of mapping, it's hard to believe a guy like John Carmack thought it was a good idea. Compiles in Unreal Editor are insanely fast. However, I was mostly using boring prefabs, because we didn't have time to go into Maya or whatever and mostly I was having trouble getting used to the interface.

JeffMOD, this isn't some wannabe kiddie sripter we're talking about. This is a fully mobile internet assault team with no traceable IP addresses and enough Ramen to outlast three nuclear wars. They most CERTAINLY have Ant's account, if not his entire computer, under their treacherous grasp. To compare the oncoming disaster to a mere resonance cascade would be a fallacy - this bears a stronger resemblance to the downfall of city 17!

in Sound issues Post #263307
You need an updated driver or one signed by Microsoft. Reinstalling won't do anything, you've just got the same driver causing the same problems. I used to have the same integrated sound device on my motherboard. Just search for new drivers through the windows update option, it'll usually find a good one automatically. After working for hours finding device drivers for random computers at my school, I know that if it's an option it's usually better to just let your computer figure it out instead of dicking around with individual driver downloads.

Also, figure out who stole his speakers and install version 2.0 of the internet.
