well not what the title kinda means cause i want to no if u can use models say from sven co-op like the lapd robot thing cause it looked cool and i wanted to use it unless that is they have put sum kind of copyright on it cause that would be very sad :(

yeh as the title says i was first amazed wen i played half life and at the beggining u ride a train which was pretty amazing bak then to me but now that i learnt you can make maps an mods just like that 'click' i wasnt so amzed but now im puzzled by a few thnigs that haunt me for years! i felt like playing half life again and didnt no how much i missed it lol. :lol: i saw sum of the old tricks that scared the crap outta me like wen walls break and headcrabs jump at you or explosions wen u least expect it which makes half life great. so straight to the point i was riding the train again and observed all the tricks they did and thought yeh i could do sum of that but the one thing i said to myself was how do i make the train shape/ brush cause it isnt exactly easy now is it , also the track seems kinda hard and finally after you get off the train the barney lets u out and opens the huge door which spins those wheels around and i was wondering how did they do that. once u hav read all this could yall reply and give me tips or tut links etc

the purpose of the loader modle was when your on the train at the beggining and the point was that you couldnt touch it otherwise you would see that you can walk through its legs etc so its mainly used wen u can see it but cant touch it if u no what i mean :

well i got it to work kinda the sound plays as soon as the map starts and only plays once but i want it to play continuesly also it seems to have stopped my loader from moving to the path_corner :

u could just use the blue(invisible) from the textures and edit that copy it and paste onto ur leaf and hopefully should work ;)

i think what his done is that like most of us he started his first test map by making a hollow cube with the aatrigger everwhere like it says to do on the begginer tut so i dont know what is wrong with his aatrigger but the only way i would do it was make another hollow cube but instead of using aatrigger as your main texture select another pre-made half life texture or if ur clever use ur own textures that u make in wally or expert program (forgot wat it was called) and if it works wit the other texture then their must be sumthing wrong wit ur aaatrigger texture and i would suggest either go to options in hammer and remove the half life texture.wad and then add it again to see any difference if not well im stumped

any other suggestions people? :

well i kind of deleted the ambiant entities and to be honest im not quite sure how i should set it all up heres what i got at the mo as a test

i have the model loader.mdl and i set 2 path_corners so it would walk from one end to the other and that seemed to work fine!

i soon realised there was no sound and well i kinda dont know how to add sound! and even if i used say an ambiant_gen how would i assign that to the model so as u can see im very confused but if i can figure this out i will surely be happy and the rest of mapping will be a sinch! :D ;)

its never happened to me but i downloaded a map from uncomplete section and wen i tried to start it it came up with the same message and i think youll find that aaa trigger shouldnt really be used as a texture but truly for triggeres hence the name aaatrigger but it seemed to work for me even though i used aaatrigger as a texture so im not quite sure whats wrong wit your map so it must be as rabid says and it has to be corrupted so i suggest installing again if you have found the problem that is then forgot i even existed :

ok i got prob i made it walk now thnx to BJ but now i need sound for the model and the console says

over and over so it must mean it cant find the sounds cause i didnt add them in the map but im still newish and im not sure how to add sounds oh and the tut doesnt make much sense to me but maybe i should use ambiant_gen who knows? :

i tried ambiant_gen (cant spell) and told it to play sound hydra1.wav and step1.wav but it didnt play it and i triggered it so wen the loader machine walks through it it starts the machine noises but no luck and by the way im still experimenting cause im kinda new on the models!! bit!! :cool: :roll:

yeh im having similar prob but i kinda solved it by putting path_corner at start and one at end of a corridor and tested it worked to my surprise but no sound obviously and i check console and says

that happened to me too everytime i opened hammer it asked to set up in options and it annoyed me loads so i downloaded 3.5 beta and it seemed to work fine but i still kept the hammer 3.4 cause it has those premade items like furniture etc but my 3.5 doesnt weird isnt it! :nuts:

oh and 1 more question on this topic i got the models to work now like the loader thing but now i want them to do sumthing like walk so do i use path_corner or scripted_sequence cause im just not sure ive learnt too much in one day and ive confused myself lol so could sum1 answer or send a tut :) :lol: :nuts: :D

yeh i new the sentences but thnx anyway the thing is it only seems to make the scientists say one of the things e.g. i trigger the first one which is u look bad and it should then trigger the rest of them but they just stand there saying those gay lines like was the distubobalator tuned today, yes :

umm monster_generic is right yes but when u want to choose a model u can only choose a mdl file but the modlels i have are in pak0 which isnt a mdl file so it wont display it and i can use the modles so i need it to be explained or is there a tut :zonked:

i tried making my sci say sumthing and it worked so now i decided to make 2 scientists talk or in my case 'cuss'. So i created 2 scis and made 4 scripted_sentences

1st= youlookbad.wav
2nd= shutup.wav
3rd=stentch.wav
4th=notcertain

so i made 4 trigger_once and hooked each one to each scriptthen i gave 2 scripts to each person so bob says 'you look terriable' and bill should say shutup, then bob goes whats that stentch and bill not certain so that was my test i did all the steps but it sorta worked i think well what happened was that bob said u look bad, then after about 20 secs later bill goes shutup and thats it ther sposed to say the rest as well

so am i lacking an entity or are the settings wrong cause im not sure and by the way if i can get this to work i can finally make my cruddy maps more interesting to my friends lol :D

ok i get what u lot mean and wat i did was i looked at pak0 right had loads of sounds which made me happy anywhoo the names of the sounds are sumthing like donuteater.wav but u cant type that in the scripted box so u must use the sentences am i right well anyway i am gonna test it now and see if it worked :
