Get an ATi X800 XTPE if you are on a budget. Seriously, with X850XTPE out, and the R520 coming soon, they are budget cards. They also beat 6600 GT in so many ways.

I won't give out any details, but it was a nice card. I can't compare it to a 7800GTX since I haven't used one yet, but it's still alot faster than an X850XTPE.

Nothing too amazing at the moment. I'm getting a new case soon, Lian-Li PC-70b. At the moment I have a PC-65, and it's kinda boring. I'm thinking of, black case, green lighting, and blue UV reactive shit (Molex connectors, IDE cables, dye in my w/c setup). I'll post pics when I finally get around to building it. Oh and a couple more pics to finish my post off:

Well, if you won't be doing any office work or encoding video, mainly gaming and benching, definately Dothan. But I'd say an A64 X2 would be more versatile while still being half-decent at gaming, also tons better for video encoding and multithreaded work. But for gaming, Dothan is the best chip out there right now.

Looks to me like artifacting. Feel the heatsink on your 9800's core, and feel the ram with your fingertip. Is it very hot? Might I recommend you invest in some OCZ Copper BGA Ramsinks and some Arctic Silver Adhesive (to glue them on). When I first got my 9800XT I was using stock cooling and got artifacting in some games. Or alternatively you could invest in an Arctic Silencer. You will be able to get some overclocking out of it, and keep it very quiet (the fan is silent). Just make sure you buy the correct revision. There is about 10 different ATi Arctic Silencers out there for different cards. I was getting a similar color phenomenon like you were getting in BF2, but in HLDM once. That was a driver issue. As for the polygon problem, that is a form of artifacting. You might notice onscreen models appearing in random places untextured or golden colored. I used to get that in Far Cry when I was overheating. The CSS issue looks like RAM artifacting, or it could be GPU.

The point is, it's the card's way of saying "you fucking idiot I'm 10000C you stupid cunting moron put some better cooling on me you shithead".

The only decent P4EE's were the old 3.2/3.4 ones on Socket 478 and the 3.46GHz one on LGA775. The 3.73GHz one is just a prescott with lots of cache, and the smithfield EE is just a dualcore 3.73GHz EE. The old EE's however weren't related to the P4 family at all, they were based on the Xeon.

The gamepc thing is slightly biased btw. P-M sucks in anything FPU intensive, such as video encoding, etc. But in gaming and 3DMark/Aquamark, it is the best you can get if you overclock it (which is easy with Asus boards!). At stock it sucks donkey balls, btw. But most P-M's will do 2.6GHz incredibly easy :)

jaardsi, that's BS. Just buy a P-M 780, and an Asus CT-479+P4C800-E and an ATi R520 (when they are released). Overclock the P-M (good ones hit 2.7GHz on stock cooling, and make sure you set multi low so you can run your RAM at higher speeds). That setup will beat any AMD64 setup to death. If you don't believe me, read benches. There is alot of life left in Intel i875P/AGP/Socket478 thanks to Asus's P-M socket adapter. AMD64 is a huge hack. It's not even "true" 64-bit processing.

As a bus, there is no speed advantage of PCI-E. There is only a tiny difference in speed between AGP 4x and 8x on the ATi X850 and the nVidia 6800Ultra, showing that carrds have only really just saturated AGP 4x. The only consumer advantage of PCI-E is motherboards that support crossfire and sli.

Seventh, the reason it doesn't make any difference is because the XT has a beefed up core as well as faster clocks. XT is r360, and Pro is r350. The XT has a bit extra onchip cache, as well as faster memory (faster timings).
