Yay! Change :D

How about the extra forum idea?

Oh, also, thread move/close would be very very handy. It takes a very long time to move threads post-by-post, and the server gets very sluggish when you're trying to open ten pages at once in order to change the authors.

This is apparently a CS problem if it happens with standard maps. Try reinstalling it/Steam, and if you still have trouble, post a new thread in the Stuff forum.

I'd really like to see a "General HL" forum, second to the top if possible, and Stuff moved to the bottom. I don't know if that's easy or anything, heh :) but otherwise it gives the "stuff" forum priority over more important stuff.

Likely to be either a logic error (entities targetting themselves?) or wierd combinations of rendering settings. Try a different graphics mode.

in mod_numforname error Post #45377
"Mod-NumforName: xxxx.mdl not found"

Often because the cycler entity, cyler sprite or some other entity used has the wrong path/name. You must use the perfect path/name, with the right capitals - or it will stop the game. The path should start with model/modelname, not the whole path name.

Sometimes browsing to the model works best, sometimes typing the path/name in works best. Also if you have changed the model, for example a new player model or a new gib model, it can cause this problem. Re-install the old model.

Sometimes the "too many wads" problem sets this off too.

BUT, the vault should be more closely monitored so that unfinished, crap, or one room maps are taken down and put where they belong
Mods do not have the time to review people submitted ten maps a day. There is no need to release them all immediately, even if they're excellent maps you've spent years making.

I still think there should be a limit of one/day or less.

If they are, they'll be moved. The only reason the MV is impossible (practically) to mod right now is because there's so much flooding, people entering dozens of maps.

Nice idea though; I think it'd work well too.

Mentioned before, and rejected. Edits will be made if people post corrections beneath.

Not too sure about all your ranking. I don't release many maps, but I help people a lot. Also, the 'testing' would take a helluva lotta time.

Captain P, are you really likely to decide you want to post 5 "completed" maps in the same day? Even if they're all from a long time ago and decently-playable, it's not necessary to post them all simultaneously.

So it is. We'll call the next competition 'an underground digger mabober that goes streaming down into a giant lake of lava, and is driven around on small falling rocks, bumping up and down, trying to find a way out when a lake is emptied out into the lava, which causes steam to shoot everywhere, making you shoot up with the pressure of the chemical reaction, up into the air where you start hurdling down toward earth at incredable speeds, so you press the eject button, but it is jammed so you do it manually, and then you find out you have no paracute, but a giant bird rescues you, but is actually trying to feed you to her young, so you kill the babies, who are really big, and the moma comes back and attacks, so you jump on its back and ride it over a big ocean, where it dies, and you fall down, but land on a whale, but sharks kill the whale and are moving in on you, so you shoot them, and try to swim back to shore when a dolphin saves you, but poltures kill the dolphin, so you shoot at them, but then the sharks come back and attack the poltures, so you swim to shore only to find out you are on a desert island, where you sit around and talk to a volly ball untill you starve'.

It's not a problem that newbies are here; that's bound to happen and what TWHL is about. The problem is that people aren't reading tutorials, old posts, etc, and are posting jibberish stupid questions.

I reckon that we need:

- More predominance on the tutorials somehow. Maybe on the front page.
  • Flood control on the vault
  • More sections in the vault
  • Navigation of paged threads at the bottom! (Still having people saying "why aren't my posts showing up", then "oh nm".
  • Slightly harsher modship, maybe. Deleting threads that are answered explicitly in one of our tutorials?
