in To .RMF Or Not To .RMF... Post #209989
But unlike movies, a big part of the people who download and play custom maps (especially SP) are map-makers themselves, or in some way involved with modding.

I dunno, I don't include the RMFs. If people want to look at the source files they could just ask.

Oh my.

1) Get off CJB.net - that is one of the worst redirection services ever. At least use no-ip.com or something half-decent.
2) Get off freewebs.net - that is one of the worst hosting services ever. At least use.. something else.
3) Use proper HTML and CSS (<button>? <font>? wrong.) and use the HTML Validator.

The site probably breaks because of resolution, yes. It's pretty badly written, too.

in TWHL3 Needs You! Post #209614
Orpheus... you have no clue what you're talking about.

Sounds to me what little HTML you once knew was standard in 1996 - new times now. <table>s for layout are a deadly sin and should never be used. We use CSS now - a standardized language for styling web pages that IE pretty much sucks at. Both IE6 and IE7 are horribly outdated in terms of CSS standards, which has caused much grief for web designers during the past few years.

And I should add that IE is all-round a piece of steamy poop. The sole reason it's the world's largest browser by market-share is that it offered cheap and useless features in the Netscape-Internet Explorer browser wars. If it were up to common bloody sense, FireFox would own everyone by now.

in TWHL3 Needs You! Post #209612
Uh, I dunno about the rest of the "team" but I intend to make TWHL3 fully functional in IE6 and IE7. If we use XHTML, I say we go for strict, too. Transitional is for pussies.

A scientific model however, is something wich CAN be proven or confirmed, for example, "Outside the universe there are nothing but bananas", it can't be proven or confirmed and therefore it's not a scientific-model.
Naturally. So evolution, big bang, the age of Earth (and more) are all unscientific?

Prisonplanet and the internets.
If something you say works against a theory or an idea that has been confirmed it's no longer science, just fantazy
And how do you confirm theories?
"Science" is only things that can be absolutely proven and confirmed?
And remember the whole freedom of speech thing. you can say anything without the fear of getting shot (talking about USA here)
Except "allah akbar" at an airport. Or, y'know, anywhere else.

Even if you're right and we're all living a great illusion, what separates this illusion from reality? What we perceive is "real" for us, no matter if it's "physical" or not.

Lighting is pretty... weird. Too bright on some areas and good on others. For instance in this screenie, the top rim of the roof is really sharp and really bright, but the area directly below it is darker and more blurry. Same goes for the golden text - it just doesn't look right on that area. The 2nd screen feels horribly empty and bare too... very boxy.

The third screenie is my favourite... I like the idea of the white iron supports as decoration, but the textures of it are just boring... simple white all over. Needs more detail.

Read my first reply ;]. There is a GCF-Scape, made by the formidable Nemesis.

in Model Questions Post #208941
A) They're from Default half-life. Use GCF-scape to extract the models from half-life.gcf in your Steamapps directory, then use the entity monster_furniture or monster_generic and choose the appropriate model.

B) There's always the HIT forums, they have loads of fly models.

C) No. Spirit rules, and yes, it's used as a mod base.
Orpheus, lots of popular mods are based on Spirit... at least DoD is, and that should be incentive enough.
Honestly, it's great to base a mod on, gives you lotsa more options.

D) Ambient_generics aren't only for ambience sounds - ambient_generic looks in valve/sounds by default, not valve/sounds/ambience - if your sound is valve/sounds/hello.wav, just type hello.wav in the ambient_generic's options.

And a note - hardly anyone uses WON-HL these days - Files are packed in PAKs.

What, my screenshots are all 800 KB, that's okay right, cause they're hot???

In any case, I don't see what the big deal is - just drag the quality down until it's as small as possible without sacrificing too much image quality. PNG's useful for few-coloured images.

WindowBlinds is a completely unnecessary program, seeing as how there's an easy way to let Windows use whatever skin you want, using the UXTheme patcher.
