Great find PB. I never read those... (I bet 90% of people don't)

Anyway, to butt in and reconfirm what PB just said; It'd probably be best to get it in writing, from a Riot Game legal staffer, that you have authorization to acquire and use de-compiled models from their games in your videos that you may profit from.

We want to help you.
We just don't want to get boned by lawyers.

Yeah All those apps need device config before you can use them :(

I know she probably bought it from the dude/dudette who stole it.
It was out of sight, out of mind until i stumbled upon my Pandora account.

Crap keeps changing AFTER i change my passwords, so that's the thing that really bothers me.

It really depends on the size or desired chaos level.
If its a small map, 4-6.
Medium map 6-10
Large map 12+

Of course that's SINGLE spawns... you don't want to spawn in the same location all the time right?
Whew. That was a nice mapping marathon!
All i need to do is make my skybox and script the actual ending.
All puzzles, sounds, effects are working.
So if all else fails i can at least submit something.

So If you guys remember (or don't) my phone got stolen over this summer. I was in the Dominican Republic on vacation and someone ganked it.
Anyway
A few months pass and I notice some very odd stations in my pandora radio.
Stations that I would never listen to - spanish dance music and hip hop and the like.

Well turns out whoever got a hold of my phone started listening to my pandora radio account. Her facebook was also linked to MY profile and all her information was there in place of mine.

Mind you i didn't think to change my Pandora password when my phone got stolen, but that's besides the point. Anyway. I find her facebook from the name that was set to my profile:
https://www.facebook.com/zuleika.cardona.79

Since then I have changed my Pandora password TWICE and new stations keep popping up every few days. This is odd...
I know my email isn't linked anymore because there's no activity and I've also changed THAT password 2 times. But how the hell does this crap keep getting changed?

Here's the really weird part; If i go to google play and check out my apps, i can see that MY STOLEN PHONE has been used multiple times per day. Apps i never dreamed of are popping up in my apps list.
I can install apps to the old phone too (thank you android)

But I can't track it down. All i know is that the phone is somewhere in Puerto Rico and i cannot get it back, but somehow my acocunts are still linked..

what the christ?
WHAT CAN I DOO MANNNNN

Yes, Dim there's a particle editor =]
There's a steep learning curve, but it doesn't take too much time to climb.
The hardest part for me was modifying the particles_manifest.txt file. You need 2 copies of the darn thing and keeping them synced can be a pain at times.
Then I need to remember to supply the files with the map i submit ahhh

Source really doesn't make it easy to add and distribute custom content :-/

Maybe I'll write up a tutorial...

So far there's no deactivation sequence, only an activation sequence.
They will remain on once activated, but now that you mention it, I'll have to make a deactivate sequence before releasing the prefab. THANKS FOR THE COOL IDEA, YO!

As far as terrain goes, there's a magical thing called displacements in Source.
Its a sculpting tool. You turn a brush face into a subdivided plain and then you raise, lower, smooth, shift the vertices. There's no need to select individual points, because once a face is selected, all the points are active and can be manipulated. The tool has falloff options so you can move groups of vertices OR just a single point. You can also blend 2 textures together with an alpha channel.

Terrain is effortless in source as compared to goldsource.

Penguinboy has a 3-Part tutorial on displacements you could always read up on. Part 1 is here.
http://twhl.info/tutorial.php?id=111

I recommend taking the leap into source. Today's computers chew through it, the compile tools support multiple cores. Scripting is amazingly powerful, the lighting is better, the AI is more easily controlled/coerced...

And you know where to go to get tips :-P

@Zeeba

The lines are created with sprite trails parented to a func_rotating which is parented to a func_movelinear.

I used a movelinear because you dynamically control how far it moves. The starting position is underground (0) and then it moves up to position 1. At position 1, it STARTS moving back to 0, but return to 1 after a second or so.. rinse and repeat. Source is nice because the movelinear triggers itself once its fully open - once set into motion, it's automatic and forever.

As for the other stuff, its just a sprite, some sounds, 2 fades, an actual teleport, and a spark effect when you land.

I'll outline everything in the example map with the prefab. I just don't want to release it yet because im using teleports in my compo map.

If you want a goldsource analog, its totally possible...

The circles can be replaced with ring beams riding path tracks. The advatage of beams is their ability to toggle on and off. The spritetrails i used in source are always on - which is why the mover-parent spawns underground.

The teleport doesn't work unless its active, and masters can be used for that.
Sprites are simple in goldsource. start off, toggle on when tele is active.
Everything else is just sounds and timing.
Ambient generics and multisources will work fine.
Goldsource has env_fades too so everything should work with some effort.

The only disadvantage is that mysetup uses around 15 entities so renaming and relinking them will be very tedious if you want more than one.

So i used the "&i" extension on all my entities when i made the prefab.
If you paste a prefab in the map, teleport01 will link to destination01. paste another, everything gets renamed to 02, and all the links remain within themselves... So nice  :hammer:

Well for a mapping website, the first thing i see when i login is a news post
Gotta scroll ALLLLLLL the way down to the bottom and then you see 6 maps.
tiny little thumbnails
When you click on the tumbnails, you get bigger thumbnails - and no other screenshots.

MOTM is dead because it seems the forums attract more attention than regular maps do.

Back to Map of the month, if you want to make it a big thing, give it a big link.
Its a little tiny addition under the maps tab which attracts little to no attention.

I'm just speaking truth because i cant think of the last time i downloaded and tested a map (other than making Castle Disposed)

This is a mapping community and the maps arent really embellished. So I think the focus of the entire website is a bit skewed away from that.

1000 world blocks or nether blocks?
My portal is around 1530, 1900
I thought that world portals create a nether portal?

Its linking to stojkens which is at 1600, 800

Do the math on that one. Pythagorean style. Our portals are around 1100m apart...

1000m is (in my opinion) too large a search radius.

The odd thing is though.. my portal links to stojkens portal, but if i teleport back out, I'm at stojkens. Plus it takes about 15s of me standing in the portal in order for it to do anything.

Super frustrating.

I would highly recommend budgeting that 4GB and upgrading your PC's software. SP3 is out for a reason. Its more secure, and (hopefully) your compatibility problems will go away.

I know the upgrade isn't going to be 4GB.
EDIT

316MB, or .3Gb. So then you're down to 3.68 GB for the rest of the month.

I think the door is black because it's spawning in the closed position so no light is hitting that surface.

So if you've already tried having the door spawn open first (so light will hit it) try the following parameters:

Minimum light level - set it to a brightness value (maybe 10?) It seems to me like there is 0 light getting to that face. Any value above zero will prevent the texture from being black. Any light cast on that object greater than the minimum light level will behave normally.

Light Origin Target - possibly have a separate light (with a name) close to the door and have the door get its lighting information from that specific light.

I haven't tried this but i would think the minimum light level would be your best bet to get rid of that blackness.

Also, your compile times probably increased due to the better quality of the compile tools.

i have MC Pocket for my Android. It's nice for the random 10-15 stint while bored (doctors office, bathroom break etc) but as far as the Minecraft experience, it's not all there.

There's no cave generation, the levels are finite, there's no animal breeding or enchantments, or nether. It's hard to really care about your world, and I find myself trying to find a good seed more than play and build.

The controls are customizable, however. It plays well for what it is, albeit slowly and it's a bit clumsy at times. The mobs are easier, and the skele-archers aren't nearly as accurate.

I guess if they never knew the wonders of the full version, the Pocket edition would do just fine. Plus the Pocket edition is $6 usd and the PC is now around $24 usd?

For kids, just messing around, I'd say go cheap and go with pocket edition - especially if they already own the hardware.
