Today's update brings excellent news for Counter-Strike: Source players - A new Terrorist model and the remake of the classic CS map, cs_assault, are slated for release next week. The new content is showcased in this week's screenshot.

In addition to the new map and model, there's also word that the model selections will be returning to CS:S within the coming months.

In other news from the world of VALVe, a new Wiki for MOD developers is now available to the public at the VALVe Developer Network. This site contains a multitude of helpful, informational content related to modding with the Source engine in all subjects - Modelling, Level Design, Coding, etcetera. If you mod for Source, add this to your bookmarks.

That's about it for this week's update. Keep an eye out for the new Terrorist player model and cs_assault on the radar for next week.

env_lightglow is more suitable for special applications - The tunnels in the coast chapters, for example.

env_sprite works better imo. Glow rendermode, constant glow renderfx.

AI would be the most complex aspect of programming, from what I can tell- I bet it uses full-blown C++. You should talk to some people in #valveerc on IRC, they would be able to help you out on that. (Do we even have that many coders here?)

This has been requested countless times, although nothing's come of it m'afraid =[ - I'm with you, it would be a handy feature for the general forum-going public. If you feel mistakes are great enough to warrant changes, you may correct them in an additional post and mods can correct stuff.

What's your video card's specs? Does it support reflectivity in HL2 even?

I assume you're on a DX8 card because of the readouts you're getting from console. Not all reflections show up on said DX model (I think it's limited reflectivity shaders, at least it is on 8.1).

You want a phys_constraint.

My actual suggestion would be to use a ballsocket at the point at which the rope hits the ceiling, then have a lengthconstraint on the rope to keep it from just pulling out and hitting the floor. It worked in Steamlab =]

Oh, by the way - Mass scale means it's scaling the default mass times 2000. Impact Force to Override can be left default, as can Don't Take Physics Damage.

Just delete the envmap field in teh VMT which you extract with GCFScape =|

Turning off shader options turns them off for the whole game so that's ill advised.

That's why I suggested that - A standard texture with only a $basetexture param will not utilize cubemaps.

I mean using the filter field as opposed to keywords. The system isn't setup horribly recently for HL2 content (Notice the airexchange and other deleted texture keywords)

VALVe is missing some detail and world textures for CS:S (They still haven't fixed it ;|) - You can't set it just to show HL2/CSS content so just learn the keywords used for HL2/CSS stuff. 'building_template, brick, wall, inf, off, etc".

Not really, VMEX keeps most stuff intact as in the original VMF. Ever wonder how the extremely accurate HL2SP levels are showing up in parts of other levels? Now you know. Most aren't just remakes as the author claims ;]

The pain is un-BSPZIPping the PCG model magazines that were scattered around the level ;P

Eclipse, PoA - There's a handful of mods out, but tbh they're really only mods that are rushed to get out first. They may get recognized by VALVe, but they're not really great in my opinion. Good fun mods take work, and that's why I've got my eye on alot of the nicer-looking WIP mods (And rather, working for one =] ) - Nightfall, Insurgency, Dystopia, and BM:S to name a few.

There's actually an interesting way to do it with a logic_collision_pair, ai_goal_actbusy, your physics item chair and table, and an info_node_hint.

For this example, name the table "table" and the chair "chair". The NPC will be named "billy".

For logic_collision_pair 1, attachment 1 is "table" and 2 is "billy". Start with Collisions Disabled, "Yes".

For logic_collision_pair 2, attachment 1 is "chair" and 2 is "billy". Start with Collisions Disabled, "Yes".

The info_node_hint should be of the World: Act Busy type and the sequence to play in the "Hint Activity" box.

The ai_goal_actbusy should affect "billy" (Search by entity name, not classname).

All you need to do now, is use a trigger or logic_auto to give an OnTrigger or OnMapSpawn with a ForceNPCtoActBusy input.

You're done!

I'd love to manage an unofficial one until we can get the code base in place. I have no good ideas, though, so I'll leave the opportunity open to a fellow forum member. (Read: I'll support it but won't run it.)

We really do need one. Source > HL1 and it's more fun tbh.

In tommy's page the errors are orgenzied into groups so you can more easly find your problem!!!
But the colors are fucked and the page just looks ugly and the font is nasty.

Just use Ctrl-F anyways. And Leak-Free pwns.
