Do you have experience in C++ and 3D math? If not I would suggest just using a prebuilt engine such as Unity or UE.

Well in theory it might, due to being able to allocate more ram, might also be the reason why it gets stuck, also maybe because swapping occurs.

Latest VHLT is x64.

Ok this might be a stupid one, but here goes: have you considered giving hlvis more time?

Is it crashing at 70%?

I grew up playing Quake 2 and since I started playing CTF before I even touched SP it never really was anything more than a Doom style "kill everything" type of game for me, textures and levels look good tho :)

I love the idea of RPG's I just hate playing them, unless its a series a really like.

I'm not an RPG type of guy, I always have the urge to just blast through the game and be done with it, so 50 hours is a LOT for me. I'm completely a linear story guy. Depends on the game really, Fallout 3 for me ended when I left the starting vault :D

I was mentioning real gameplay time, the amount spent actually playing the game. Those 55 hours span over 3 months in real time (since release to be exact)

Finished it in 55 hours, by far the longest time it took me to finish any game and its still not a 100% :)

Got to agree with Urby here, it's not as bad as all the media painted it to be. There are minor quirks, but for the most part it plays good.

The important thing is not to try to compare it to the original trilogy, this was a different approach with the focus of open worlds as opposed to missions like it was on ME2/3.

Used to be done by Daubster and SnC initially then I kind of took over. There will be more because I really like doing these the only problem being that participation is low + the fact that its an international thing doesn't help. But don't worry an xmas one should be happening this year.

Back to topic, I might dust off the ol "SledgeJackHammer" and join this one. Also Urby is right, a mod would require a lot of organization efforts and is probably not worth it (no offence to all you programmers) given then twhl tower as stated took over a year to finish.

Smells to me like fanboyism.

That aside, why are you classifying that AMD cards are not for "gaming"? Both green and red team have great offerings for gaming and compute fields. The high end is dominated by Nvidia while the more affordable "bang for the buck" cards are made by AMD. Back when bitcoins were mined by GPU's AMD cards were 2x as powerful compared to Nvidia in that particular workload.

What I am saying is weigh your options and since you are/would be on a budget it matters that you get a card that will offer the most performance for the money you are putting down be it green or red.

I got my 1060 6gb for 220eu or something like that. If you don't want rendering problems especially for goldsource I would recommend an Nvidia GPU.

Wow a 660 is 300 euros !? And i thought pc parts in my country were expensive. Anyway that thing is quite old now, I run one in my work machine. Whatever you do don't go for anything in the 400 series, they are ancient at this point, well they are probably only good now for cooking your steak (they are really hot).

How much is a 1050ti there ?

in how do you bhop properly in cstrike? Post #335130
Yes in quake you can't turn while in the air therefore "bunnyhopping" is impossible, yet there is no speed cap so you can accelerate to ludicrous speeds something like surfing in CS :)

Quake 2 had/has a fun mod called "Jump" with thousands of maps where the objective is similar to "kreedz", but usually you cant stop in between jumps to maintain a certain speed to reach the other jump

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goaEiIY0R-Y

Q3 has a similar mod called "defrag".

Use amxmodx and a custom map manager, i don't think that has a limit.
No sane server would run just mapcycle.txt with that many maps in it :)

UAC is modern cancer for Windows and its gotten worse after Windows 7. Sure it helps from most malware that was written by idiots, but if you work with system folders (Program Files is one of them) its a pain in the ***.
I have to completely disable it to allow file copying to system drives (even C:\).

Also if want to avoid compilation errors that are file related, don't install hammer and vlht (or any derivative) in C:\ drive or at least not in Program Files.

10 year old laptops are really considered "edge cases", practically nobody uses them for anything gaming related. I wouldn't even consider leaving out graphical details for the 10 of you who run these pc's.
