I know its not my entity limit, because I use the 'Toggle Cordon State' Option to compile certain parts.. and when I put three scientist close together only 2 of them appear in the map, so I deleted the one not appearing and recompiled, but then only 1 appeared. :
Seventh: I'll try moving them to another area.

OK, this is the first time I encoutered this problem.. so, here it is.

When I put 3 dead scientist together, only 2 will appear in the map.. same as if I put 2 dead scientist together, only 1 will appear.. like so:

OK guys, problem solved, I forgot all about a program I had called NoAdware V.3.0 I scanned my PC, and found 139 infected files, including such aplications like Starware, and much more, which where defined as Severe threats, because the programs would continue to update themselves... but, now there gone.

As for the other problem with my HL not working due to me uninstalling Steam, well, I did a System Restore, and all is back to normal.

Thanks for all your help though.

btw Chickenfist, I have FireFox and Opera, I never used IE and never will.

ZL, I tried that, did'nt work.. I tryed a pop-up blocker, doesn't work..
MCafee, aaa, nope.. nothin', I don't know whats wrong.. I changed the
homepage of the IE Browser.. but I still get pup-ups all the time.

btw guys, I need help.. I had steam installed, and when I went to uninstall it, it deleted my 'hl.exe'!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 :furious:

I need help!

I'm getting pop-ups galore, and I have no idea where there coming from!
I uninstalled all the adware I found on my pc, but still, I leave my PC for 45mins, and when I come back I got 61 Popups.. which causes me to hit the power button in order to reboot it. How can I find this bug! :|

I think it's time for another hl1 compo, don't you?

I think we should have two compos (one for hl1, and another for hl2) going at the same time.. cuz it gets boring waiting for the next to appear.

wow, I wasn't expecting to get this large of a response. :) it took me a 20 mins just to read them all.

I definetly will pop up everyonce and a while, here and IRC. And I have'nt given up anything. I still map. Right now, I'm working on remaking some parts of half-life. But only on my spare time.

Anyways, thanks for everyones support and different insights.

Oh and Tycell, its great to know I'm not the only one too.

Fellow TWHLers,

How many people never change? Well, I never. And the reason I never was because I enjoyed life just the way it was, I did'nt care about anything but the stuff I really enjoyed. But even the best of us grow tired within, once we thought we have finally mastered the true secrets of making an unforgetable map. Perfectly textured, perfectly scaled, just perfect, and then its as almost as if it is not recognized to the world, yes, you'll recieve a few comments, but its never enough, you always strive for more.

So you become a creator. Your imagination flows wilder then ever as you load up Hammer, once again. You create something wonderful, the architect as you have known to be hidden deep inside you is released. The excitement as you click the upload button to show off once again what you think will become an unforgettable map. You get a five-star review, and yet another later that day, and another follows, but it has 100 views, and only 8 downloads. The dissatisfactory lingers. And you load up Hammer once more. Starring at the blank workspace.

5, 10, 15 minutes pass, and your still infront of your screen, you hit the 'X' in the top right corner, still dissatisfied.

You visit the forums. And notice a mod team looking for help. You apply. Without hesitation it seems, they greet you with open arms. And the fire starts up inside. You load up Hammer. Hours pass as you continue to work. First part is done, you marvel, and take screenshots to show the people you don't know. Your not expecting pointers from others, since you know you have a winner. The team reply's with excitement, each one taking mental notes. You go back to work... a few weeks pass, and compile times are long. You can't wait until the mod is completed, so you can show everyone what you have been apart of. And maybe then, you will be recongized from the greatest of great mappers around the globe.

But then you step back into reality, your flame goes out, as you look through all the other mods out there, you see hundreds. And wonder what the point is. I don't know if it's because I've recently turned 20 years of age and am now thinking about what I want to do with the rest of my life. But I now realize that I won't accomplish it by sitting here. I want to create something that will be in tabloids and magazines from the north, to the south poles of the earth. Something that I can finally get recognized for. So, as you can see, my maps are all deleted. This is my goodbye.

(Hunter, my parts of Hostage Situation mod will be hosted. I'll contact you in a week or so.)

remember the floor is tired to a env_mirror, with the null texture on the top(the reflection) after that add the floor (func_wall) must be underneath the env_mirror.. (1-unit thinck brushes)

Plus try out the fog..

(This stuff works in OpenGL, not sure about software, and direct3D)

This shows mainly the reflections, plus I wanted to see if it would lag, and nope, no lag whatsoever, and my PC barely runs HL2!

Nope it's an option for spirit users. If you have Spirit v1.5 Then you can have this, along with working fog! The reflection is actually a entity called env_mirror, right now, the spirit team are working on the player model being reflected. :D

ok pepper, thanks for the input same with you CP, although, it is'nt my first model I ever made, more less the first model I have ever textured and added animations for halflife. :D

Yes, you can use about 10 env_render's to change the effects amount to a lower number.
so the first env_render is triggered putting the FX amount from 90, to 80..
Then trigger another env_render to change it from 80, to 70, and so on, until the sprite has dissapeared.

might want to work with smaller numbers as well, example: 90, 85, 80, 75, 70.. ..0.

If that is what you mean.. :)

yea, thats what I was thinking Pepper, 256 colors, is a hell of alot better than 3.. lol..

Could it have something to do with the palette?
How can I convert to 8-bit using Adobe Photoshop?

Now, got a texturing problem, well, sorta.. earlier when I was adding the bones and joints, I clicked an option somewhere that did something to the wheels causing them to appear black, I thought it would be alright for the time being, but now when I apply my custom wheel texture, I can't see it.. and I can't remember what I clicked.. would you guys know?

I have another problem, this one with texturing..

Since I'm making this for half-life, I need 8-bit textures.. correct?

if thats true, well then what do I do, my textures are looking so crappy, for example, I had a nice steel texture, but when I converted it to 8-bit, it ended up being 3 colors, blue, olive green, and grey...

So ya, please help! : :D

yes, all that you need to do is open the wad file, minimize it, and then open the texture you want to add in wally, then edit-selectall, then copy the texture. Now go into the wad file that is minimized, right click on it, and paste, and walla.

after imported just save it.

ah, righto, thank. :D

Got another problem thats been bugging me for the longest time, well, ever since I started, everyonce and a while when I try to make a face out of 3 Vertices I'll get the error Please Select exactly 3 Vertices
But I go and check to make sure I only got three selected, and I do.
To fix it, I usually just delete it and redo it, but some times that turns into alot of work if you know what I mean.. lol :|

ok thanks for your help.. although, I figured out a way to select vertex's in the 3D view.. simply hold down Alt-Shift while clicking..

anyways, yea, hiding would work good, only thing is, I grouped only the wheels, and the body, now I can't get them ungrouped.. plus, it's going to take for ever to group every thing again.. : :)

Right now, I'm adding foglights to the top..
