no animation will loop unless it says loop after the animation entry in it's QC script embedded in the MDL file. If you have a model viewer with a QC script viewer built in, you can see what I'm talking about.

The whole micromap thing is fun. Remember the prefab contest? The entries were sick to my standards.

I'm tempted to equip some crowbars, add 10 spawns and try get it on the server. :D (proabably won't)

Having a dozen "cubicles" in one map would be balls. I don't know why I didn't expect things to get CPU raping. :<

Just make stuff and I'll think of a way to compile it on my own.

I should have called this "TWHL Spatial Limitation Challenge" :/

Provide the fully compiled BSP and stuff. When I assemble the whole thing together, I'm going to implement a bind script so that when you press N it goes to the next and P for the previous. You each get an entire BSP, but only 512 cubed. No scenery or anything outside of that except a skybox.

Should've mentioned that earlier.

Relatively 512x512 is really big for a cubicle. At TWHL, we treat out peons grunts "employees" by giving them more space than the average sized cubicle.

You each get a 512x512x512 area to build whatever you want. Make it as nice as possible with textures, lighting, and models if you have them. All of these swatches will be compiled into a map for all to see. Like the rooms maps but a lot smaller and manageable.

The floor of your swatch can be below your plot. Just make sure its a solid 512x512 so it lines up with the surrounding floors. Don't worry about accessibility, though it is a plus, walking space will go between each cubicle.

Give it a try, its just a small area to fill.
I think it would be ok to do more than one plot if people are willing.

In HLDM, target a monstermaker with to spawn the item you want.

You can also use the game_player_equip point entity with a trigger_once or trigger_multiple to drop some weapons on a player directly.

Wow Zeeba, that's really detailed. I like the way the shadows on the floor. But is poly count going to be too high for any more details?

Also, I see a truck. Is that a prefab or did you make it?

That's a weird glitch.

If no one can come up with a better solution, try the latest restore point. Its sounds to me like a system file got messed.

As for the CP and KOTH stuff, I haven't received too much feedback. That's why I asked questions when playing TWHL3 on the server. Improvements can be made if necessary, or if the templates are confusing I can write a guide or something. :)

I wonder the success of my koth and cp triggers. I don't want Hotdog and I to be the only people mapping for it. I worked hard to build those! :(

Also I swear by the alt-click thing nowadays. Makes mapping feel more natural.

Sounds good. Didn't know that the cannons were team specific. Smart move since they could kill other team mates and there's always one asshole who will do it.

Make maps that you like, both in gameplay and in asthestics. Chances are, if you make one you like, it will be quality by the time you deem it good enough to release.
Good examples of that, these were my funnest mapping experiences.

Players have to shoot from two parallel bridges to get to the middle point right? That's a pretty good idea!

If I may suggest not putting the Tau Cannon on the map. Reason being for CP TWHL3 was because of the windows, also the map does not have teleports to stop a player from gaining entry. You can still have a Tau Cannon, just add a master to the teleport triggers for the team you want it to affect and a teleport destination somewhere in that area also.

If you have any troubles or care to try a private testing, let me know. :3

I'm having a terrible issue with diffuse and chunky lighting. I have managed to have smooth lighting in the past, but when I really need it, its not happening.

I've checked to make sure the texture coordinates were straight, that's the first thing I did. I've tried changing the chop amount, bounces, dynamic bounces on/off, even tried a newer and previous versions of ZHLT. Same result on everything!

Truly baffled. Halp?

I did that. Now I stick to goldsource because HLDM is the shit.

To ease up the process, don't list long directories in the script. Keep all of the files related to your model in the same folder so it knows where to look. Also if you do that, you can compile anywhere. Automatically, QC scripts will look for resources in the same folder it is in. Anything else will get lost unless you type out a long directory like C:/users/rimrook/documents and setting/desktop/hl models/crate/etc/etc/etc... you get the idea.

The line that says
$modelname "half_life_crate/firstcrate.mdl"

Should say
$modelname "firstcrate.mdl"

Isn't that easier? :3

When you compile, it'll put the MDL file in the folder, then copy-paste it into your HL models folder for use.

I'll be buzzing around this thread from time to time. ^_^

EDIT: Wow. pays to read a bit.

Anyway, your new problem can be solved by using a "Cycler" entity, not cycler_sprite or the env_sprite entities. The reason it crashes your HL is because HL is looking for animations, hitboxes, AI, and all that stuff. Cyclers don't care. I've had that problem a few times, although I don't know why monster_furniture works with some models not with others. If it persists, send me your model and files.
