Use the "Hold time" setting on the env_fade. If that's too short, you can make the player start in a completely black room, then teleport him to the map, then fade from there.

Probably due to the fact that you're using WON HL, which doesn't support transparency in models.

Either switch to Steam, or find the extra DLLs needed to make it work for non-Steam installation (they're hard to find, mind you).

I'd really much prefer it if you reduced the numbers of sections of the forums, :(. The whole forum takes ages to browse.

Put every board (Gaming, General Discussion, Parenting) into their own section, leaving only 3 sections, while putting review submissions somewhere else on the site.

Might be a tad drastic, this, but I really do believe too many sections damages a forum's user-friendly-ness quite heavily. Just my opinion though.

Oh and by the way, someone tip-off Jack Thompson about this site, you'd get lots of media coverage :D .

I've watched like half an episode of Top Gear. Couldn't stand it, t'was so boring. It's very similar to brainiac, in a way.

ChatZilla.

The difference is that Firefox can do anything, you just have to look for it first, which is why I prefer it. An in-built torrent-client seems useless, though, but I'm sure there IS a firefox extension for it somewhere.

In any case, it just boils down to which you prefer personally; they're both great browsers, and anything is better than IE.

in Displaying Hud Without suit? Post #196831
Er, find the suit sound's name, then just place an empty .wav in your mod folder in the correct location.

IE, say the HEV suit sound is named Suit_sound.wav (just an example, not sure if it does) and is in sounds/player in the pak (or GCF for steam) file, just put an empty .wav (you can just make a file in notepad and save it as wav) in Your_mod/sounds/player/.

You don't need to remove any files or do anything, since files in folders have a higher priority than them in paks or gcfs.

in New Entities? Post #196752
Well, you could code new entities by modifying the Half-Life source code - but if you're just going to make re-skinned soldiers, that isn't necessary.

All you need to do is replace the skins for the Soldier models and perhaps change some AI coding - shouldn't take too much work.

A skinning tutorial can be found here. Enjoy.

Why don't you link to the YouTube page with the video instead? Should work with all browsers. Haven't read the whole thread, so I dunno if anyone's mentioned it.

About the trailer, it's pretty well-made to have been made by students. I mean, I've tried film making, more or less serious, it aint easy. A HL movie'd fail, like all movies based on games do.

I'm sorry, but I have to complain about the logo yet again. It's horribly low-res and fairly boring. I can understand the extra size, but 2048px is almost too wide - even though there might be people who do browse at such resolutions, I'd say they're extremely rare.
Settle with a 1600x1200 screenshot.

Second of all, spammer - there's already a thread exactly like this

Third, yeah, good game, the fighting kicks oblivion's ass. But my guess is oblivion wins in the long run because of the immense size and freedom of it, lacking in DMoMM.
