How do i get monsters to just perform looping animations on the spot, such as just sitting or whatever. I tried using scripted_sequences and setting the idle animation but that doesnt work

also if you run it with no lights in at all, it will light the level exactly the same everywhere automatically.

But only if you are using ZHLT 253 v1.7 compiling tools, earlier versions didn't fullbright the map (Ed:Andy)

can't you extract some of the models from the opfor fgd, make some copies of the hl zombie entity info or whatever (i don't know exactly), and then change the models to the extracted ones?

marlboro, i think oasis are at the end of their lifespan about now. After what's the story (morning glory) they released Be here now in 1997, not a bad album but a bit self-obsessed. After that they went through a very rocky patch with lots of argument until Standing on the shoulders of giants in 2000 (i think). A very different album to their previous work, but i like some of the stuff on it. Their last album was heathen chemistry a couple of years ago, which i think will be their last. Only Liam and Noel are the same band members now from when they started back in 94.
I have heard rumours that they have split up, but also rumours that Noel will start doing solo stuff, which seems quite a good thing.

the fundamental thing here is that fpss dont actually work on consoles, which is why they stink. A gamepad is ridicualously limiting in terms of control methods and combinations, so every second ps2 game is about gangsters (and guess what: you steal cars and kill mo'! wow thats so cool its gotta be good!). Console players winge about how people say that consoles are dumbed down and simplified, but the fact is its true. If they wish to prove that they have brains then they should go and buy a PC and be introduced to a world of proper games, half-life, mediaeval total war, and all the other classics. At the very least it lets them hack their own missions for driver.

hmm this is difficult
the train comes in fine but doesn't stop at the path_track in front of the station (largely because i don't know what settings the path track should have), but when i fire the trigger_once that should send it off down the tunnel, it stops wherever it is.

Or can i trigger the train directly to make it stop and start?

I've made a train that similar to the one in HL that has to appear from the tunnel to the left of a station, stop at the platform, wait until the player has entered a trigger area (boarded the train), and then zoom off to the right. I think i'm on the right lines with a func_tracktrain and 3 path_corners, but there seem to be a half dozen other possibilities.
Any info on how to do this?

I would be really grateful if you lot would read all of this, and not skim any bits, as i know it's a bit longwinded. I stand by my previous thoughts:

It starts off with gordon hunting somewhere for a specimen of some type or other of the venerable anomalous material, possibly on a distant planet such as wherever the opfor aliens came from, and embarks on what develops into a more difficult mission as the aliens try to keep it from him. As he goes, he uncovers more about what happened to black mesa in his his absense (he hasn't been back since), and why the aliens want it so much. It emerges that there was another "white mesa" somewhere in the frigid polar regions of earth or on an ice planet, and it is there that gordon travels. He finds adrian sheperd in a state of suspended animation or whatnot, and once freed tells gordon of all that transpired, specifically the nuke. At this point they realize that the whole earth has been invaded by aliens. But, joy of joys, there is a time displacement facility!! So either with or without sheperd, gordon battles his way to the time transporter (on earth, in space, wherever) and returns to black mesa before the bomb goes off, and confronts the final threat that may or may not have been apparent in the other games. The g-man could have a shocking role in all of this, maybe as the guy who sold earth out, and sent gordon off into space whilst he was planning the invasion. But in the end, gordon finds a solution, prevents the bomb going off, and celebrates with a nice drink.

i say come up with several central ideas for the plot, display them and get anyone who will to vote (just a tick box thing) and bingo. the idea that gets most votes is the most central element of this game/mod, next gets a smaller role etc. Some things just won't get used, but that's life.

BTW i'm now finally convinced that going back and forth through time like in timesplitters is one of the stupidest ideas ever, because frankly, it would just be utterly pointless
