in animation problems Post #298678
You might have to settle for combining all of the animations into one and just use one scripted_sequence for the whole thing.
A new scripted_sequence forces any prior animations to stop, causing a short pause IIRC.

journal comments mean you'd have to be responding to one of their journal posts so that doesn't really cover anything, and pms are just meh if you just "say hi" or comment directly on their profile.
I can't imagine what you would post on someone's profile that wouldn't pertain to a journal, thread, or PM. Everything else would either go in the shoutbox or would just be spam. That includes saying "hi" for the sake of saying "hi."

I'd probably have to say that journal comments and private messages take care of anything that you might want to post on someone's profile. So I'm going to have to give this notion a thumbs down.

I'm 99% certain that it's the combined file size of all textures used in the map. Using a texture more than once doesn't add to anything. It's just a cache in memory.

I dreamed that I felt a small, fleshy lump on my lower jaw gum. I checked a mirror to find that the lump was the root of one of my teeth. The tooth had broken in half, and the top half was resting between my gums and lips. The lower half was hollow and bleeding.

Maybe it shouldn't have been, but it was quite terrifying.

I rushed into the bathroom and brushed my teeth the second I woke up :|
I plan to buy some mouthwash and floss today.

Once again, you don't carry a weapon around for self defense without experience.
This is not a hard concept. If someone gets fucked over by their lack of experience, that's their fault.

The "problem" is that guns have been acceptable in the States since day 1, and have therefore been far, far too commonplace to just take away. Secure gun control is something politicians have been struggling with for a long time, rest assured.

As for the original topic: I loosely support the idea because
1) People with concealed permits tend to be much, much more responsible with their weapon, as the process of obtaining one is tedious and requires strong consideration
2) Residents of universities are all technically adults
3) State universities are not private property
Learn some self defense of some sort, and if ever confronted just give them what they want, pulling a gun with no experience is just going to get you killed,
You shouldn't be carrying a gun on you if you have no experience in the first place. No exceptions. The fact that people do anyway is a completely different issue.

But in REALITY, something happened and there were never 2 possibilities happening at the same time
That's not the point. The point is to consider the possibility, not to actually prove anything.
It's a mental exercise.
Quantum scientists claim that the cat is in a sort of super state where it isn't dead nor alive until someone actually opens the box and by doing that collapsing the wave function. One couldn't possibly understand what that actually means, like they say; "if you think you've understood quantum mechanics, then you've not".
These claims are based on the ever popular notion that "reality" is a relative state of being purely unique to the observer. That's the entire basis for quantum anything.

in creating a false sense of distance?!? Post #296794
I hope you're still here, because I've got a perfect solution for you.

Use a sky that would blend well with your water texture. Cut your water apart into rectangles/trapezoids that surround a square in the middle (hope that makes sense). Make each rectangle more and more transparent, so what you end up with is water that gradually fades into full transparency off in the distance. Under the transparent water will be your sky, which should now blend seamlessly.

This still takes a bit of room to look right. Each rectangle should be at the very least 256 units wide. A difference of 50 in transparency per section should look about right.
Check out the CS 1.6 map de_plaka to see this technique in action. I also tried it in my map dm_blue_paradise, but de_plaka was a much better execution.

What is outside the universe? And do the dimensions we deal with expand past its edges?
A popular theory right now is that neighboring universes are "right next" to each other like bubbles, but that there is no way of exiting one universe without moving to higher dimensions.

Doesn't really answer your question, though.

To finish that:
I think a lot of the time subconsciously reading people's subtle facial expressions can often lead people to the same conclusions before anything is said aloud. Is this a form of mind reading?
Depends on your definition of "mind reading", I suppose.
I would say not, if only because it's a medium between the mind and the reader - body language and whatnot - that is really being read, not the mind itself.

Sure, but only with dubious amounts of EM radiation and some extremely sensitive detectors. It'll never be portable I don't think.
Possible, not practical :)

I'm not holding my breathe for that kind of technology in my lifetime, or my kids' lifetime.

Understanding the workings of the human brain on such a level is also dangerous to people's notions of free will. If science could explain exactly how the human brain works that precisely... I'm inclined to believe that would be devastating.
