The JMF format is supposed to add functionalities, and being able to save a map shouldn't be considered as one in my opinion. Plus the JMF format causes compatibility issues when I open my map with other editors.

Yeah! Apparently, Jackhammer bugged on saving my map, and now I can't open it no more, neither with Jackhammer nor Sledge! :D I'm really starting to hate Jackhammer…
The error is: "Error: can't read 1 bytes from file example.rmf". Did someone already get this?

Currently playing Dishonored. Despite everyone who advised me to play this game insisting on how good it is and the critical metacritics reviews, I find the game boring when not bad.
Its graphical aspect is distinct but I hate it, especially the fact objects we can use are highlighted, making the world anything but convincing.
Musics are rare and otherwise are boring as hell, it looks like they are only here to make an ambient sound.
Furthermore, among the small flaws, I hate the fact that my character do things on his own while I'm still looking through his eyes, like when he takes the little girl of the beginning (which I can't stand for) in his arms or listen to the empress' last words. Talking of which I don't see the point in forcing the player to defeat enemies in order to defend the empress if it's to get, once all enemies are defeated, a cinematic where the player's character is recklessly watching the empress talking, gets knocked down and sees the empress being killed.

Edit: Damn it's impressive how I sound blasé in this post! :P

Actually they're both derived from Latin.
I was joking because I don't speak any Italian yet it looks like I can completely understand your post (although for some reason I don't understand in which way my joke was supposed to be funny :P ), however as far as I know consequent part of English is based on French.

It's anyway safer to post the rmf in the private Google Drive folder KB. When you post the link like that, the whole Internet can access it. Not that I think there is much risk with Goldsource rmfs :P
Anyway, I didn't upload mine, I'll do that when I'm on my mapping computer.
Tetsu0, do you have me on Steam? I could help you, I used to use CamStudio quite a lot and fix this kind of problems.

Uploading as well! I'm using some models which author is unknown, so I'll probably replace them with new ones made by me in the future.
EDIT: Perhaps it's too late, but why not make a making of? Would be cool that each one of us keep the rmfs corresponding to the different versions of their map and perhaps record their screen while mapping, don't you think? We could use that to make a video afterwards (I could).

Why don't people just work within Goldsources limitations anymore? If they aren't satisfactory, move onto Source. tongue - :P

It's like all those mods that add dynamic lighting, physics and HD effects. Why try to make Source when Source was a thing 12 years ago...
I wouldn't say they try to make Source, at least it doesn't look like Source. Source can't come down to a simple improvement of Goldsource. There are a lot of other differences and for some reasons I really can't take the Source aspect, yet I enjoy the improved Goldsource one like the one in Cry of Fear or Paranoia 2 (even though the mapping of PS is sometimes boring). So I'm totally in favor of improving Goldsource. Furthermore, an improved Goldsource means that the gameplay and modding techniques will remain the same, and won't be like Source.

And just to make sure I completely disagree with you ( :P ) , if I were to move to a more powerful engine, I don't see why I'd choose Source (apart from the fact it's made by Valve). I'd rather choose UDK.

An RMF that Sledge can't open but VHE can? Sounds like a bug. Can I take a look?

But I'd say the fault comes from JackHammer, since VHE doesn't load the entities of my map when it opens an rmf from Jackhammer (and Quark doesn't load brushes properly).

Well, concerning my map, I've run into a big problem recently: it looks like Jackhammer doesn't manage entities properly, and as a result my map bugged for no reason even when I just added a meaningless entry to a multi_manager, and it still bugged after I removed it even though it wasn't bugged before. So, I decided to use another editor.
Unfortunately, it looks like Sledge isn't able to open rmf saved by Jackhammer, so I tried to open my map with VHE, but this time all my entities were gone. I had to export my map's entities to the .map format with JH (which only saved a part of the entities) and then load it into VHE. :/
I also tried to open it with Quark, but then brushes were bugged as hell! :P

That would be a good idea: merging all entities and entities systems in one single map to make some sort of comprehensive manual of everything  Goldsource can do with entities. But it would be a long and not boring work.

It wouldn't work since my func_train has to teleport itself between each stops.
Anyway, I may have solved my problem: I simply made my trigger_changetarget point towards my func_train (and not my path_corner). Not sure if it's the solution though because I need to be able to have more than 2 multiple paths. I'll tell you!

Here's the solution if anyone's looking for it as I was: SOHL does not support Trigger State (it means, calling an entity with either the parameter on or off). Instead, you have to call your entity normally, adding potentially + (equivalent of on) or - (equivalent of off) at the beginning of the called entity named in the target field of the calling entity.
For exemple, func_button targets +train.

Hello everyone!

I'm having a hard time trying to understand what means off and on for SOHL 1.8.

I created two button_target targeting respectively mm_on and mm_off. mm_on and mm_off are two multi_manager which target 2 trigger_relay: tr_on and tr_off. tr_on and tr_off target both the same light and train with respectively ON and OFF in "trigger to send".
However:
  • the button that targets mm_off does nothing apart from turning the train on
  • the button that targets mm_on switches on and off the light, but ordy turns the train on.
Any idea what's going on? O_o
