when someone makes a full custom theme for TWHL with complete stylesheets that are compatible in all browsers, along with custom background images, logos, icons, and the like, i'll implement custom themes.

EDIT: and here we go:

generated with this string:
200 * cos(((xval-(res/2))/3)*((yval-(res/2))/3))
here's another:
User posted image
400*cos(((xval-(res/2))/2)) * sin(((yval-(res/2))/2))
and finally the one from the gensurf website (modified):
User posted image
5000-(radius/16+256*sin(radius/256))
i just looked at gensurf and because it is incompatible with newer versions of Excel so the formula function doesn't work, it seems pretty useless. besides, Twister's purpose is different to gensurf's, except for heightmaps.

so now i'm going to try to put an excel formula parser in Twister that doesn't depend on excel. go me.

XHTML is an XML based language - and XML is an anally strict language. if an XML file has a single error, it is not parsed. this would be the same for XHTML if browsers actually parsed XHTML as XML, but they don't. point is that choosing a format like that and then filling it with errors is a dumb thing to do.

secondly, there's a standard for a reason. if you make a valid website that doesn't render like it should on a browser, then it should be the browser's fault. this means that you can sit on your valid website until the browser creators pull their thumbs out and fix their broken code.

yes, browsers detect invalid code and compensate for it, but they all do it in different ways. these ambiguities in parsing errors destroys any cross-compatibilities between browsers and makes web developers' lives a living hell.

people who don't follow the standards are slowing down the progress of the internet. imagine if a language like C++ didn't have a standard - multiplatform support would be out the window.

The reason that developing a website that is valid and works in all browsers is so hard is mostly because IE does not adhere to the standards like all other browsers do, and is therefore having a negative effect on the internet in general.

And I don't see a reason to correct someone saying that something "looks balls". It's a perfectly valid comment.

Tito, that was possibly the dumbest comment I've ever seen, because if you even looked at the source code you'd see 215 validation errors on the front page alone.

I don't get what Hunter is trying to say. Are you pointing out the blurry screenshots or what?

but seriously, this arena mode is mostly intended for the competitive part of TF2, but i'm sure that pubbers will enjoy playing it too.

afaik, you should install 32 bit programs in the x86 directory, and 64 bit apps in the regular one.

i've never used a 64 bit operating system, but i think that the trouble alot of people have with 64 bit is driver incompatibilities - drivers must be 64 bit, but programs that are 32 bit will run fine. i think.

as for crysis, just install to the default location and it should be fine, i guess.

no, because one of these days i'm going to do the projects system. and this is exactly what it's meant for. There's a small bit of detail on it here. You have to remember that the majority of my TWHL3 work is done over the christmas break, which is why there have been no updates lately. i'm pretty much booked up from march to mid-november. But i'll try to do some work then - no guarantees tho, Left 4 Dead as well as a bunch of other games are coming out around november :)

rumor has it that the new shotgun will be a sandwich that gives 100 health, and the new minigun will do less damage and slow people down. and it is said that the new game mode is not hunted - it's some "arena" mode that is like sudden death. and a few old maps like badlands are being redone for the new type.

the same rumors got the gloves unlock almost exactly right, but who knows? some of the achievements make references to sandwiches, eating, and health - so it may be more likely than you think.

sorry, i meant 5 sections - like how dustbowl has 3. i just read the tf2 blog entry and the way it's worded it sounds like 5 new maps. seems quite a bit tho. that's only one less than the number of maps that came out with TF2 in the first place. plus cp_steel, that makes the complete 6. that's quite a lot for valve.

cp_steel! woot.

the new game mode with "5 arenas of play", would that be 5 new maps or 1 new map with 5 modes? guess we'll find out in a few days.

is hunted mode similar to vip mode in CS?

can't a G15 keyboard do that? it's even mentioned in that thread you linked. afaik, you can add all kinds of plugins to the G15 screen, but by default it shows your CPU and RAM usage.

you can also get LCD faceplates for the front of your pc box that have these kind of stats on them, i've seen them from time to time.

capt: goldsource heightmaps work exactly the same, except the "displacement resolution" is the number of displacements on each side of the whole heightmap. so if you set the power to 3 (8 triangles) and the displacement resolution to 4, that's 8 x 4 = 32 triangles on each side. the width of each triangle would be the width you provided divided by 32.

Because Twister is primarily a displacement generator, it makes more sense when used that way. The power of the displacement is the number of triangles in the displacement.
