It's not implemented into HL code by default so one would need to recode the HL stuff in order to support it.

FGD files do not store actual code - Just stuff to make it easier to use in-editor.

From the Source SDK FAQ:
I reset my Game Configuration, but I get an configuration error when I try to run Hammer.
If you reset your game configuration using the "Reset Game Configurations" button on the SDK Launcher, and you get an error message "The game configuration information for the game you're trying to edit is invalid or missing", you need to launch the game at least once before editing content. After running the game, launching Hammer should work correctly.
Or you can write your own GameInfo as the FAQ describes: http://www.valve-erc.com/srcsdk/general/gameinfo.html

Or one can get a utility called GCFScape which opens GCF files, then extract the gameinfos from the proper GCFs (half-life 2 content, counter-strike source shared, half-life 2 deathmatch).

Yes.

GCF = Game Cache File which all files for Steam games are stored in.

Manually copy the gameinfos from the GCF, then, if it's not functioning correctly. Resetting SDK content works fine for me.

sigh

Perhaps the problem isn't VALVe's, but perhaps with the user? Don't be so fast to blame things on them.

Try using the Reset SDK content feature as Steam describes.

It's not an entire snowman model, it's a collection of parts - Hat, carrot, coal, head, etc - You can knife or shoot it and it falls apart. Same for the arms.

Indeed.

You may not SEE your problems with IE, but they're CERTAINLY there. I stopped using it a while ago and switched over to an alternative browser and did a spyware sweep - Even with a firewall and antivirus running I still had some items which were undoubtably installed or recieved by IE.

But, it's your decision and I'm not going to change it. You'd be doing yourself (and the world) a favor by switching to an alternative however.

Also, FireFox can increase your browsing speed with a few simple tweaks if you're on DSL or Broadband, as a general note. Opera can as well, probably.

You can't load RMF - It's a bug. You have to use a MAP format.

Might be Win98. I doubt it, though, Hammer 4 is pretty buggy by nature.

You can probably make them turn off by triggering them again.

And you could just have something triggered which kills the key, etc - I think one could have triggers that killed things once fired, I can't recall.

You can pay VALVe a fee to have the key removed from an account, but your best bet is going to be getting a new key as without the account/email you can't do much. All HL2 Silver + orders come with all of the VALVe games (yes, HL1/CS/CZ as well) so you could just opt to upgrade - Much cheaper.

Only run full VIS/RAD when your map is 100% done. Anyways, part of the map's construction and design should be in the lighting (It makes or breaks the map) so you need to think about it. A lot.
