reading the storyline of HL the things i thought up seem so perfectly fitting.

the thngs they should add to that timeline(which will be revealed in PRK in more depth) are the following.
1:the portal storms causing a huge earthquake on the SanAndreas falt, breaking off almost all of the west coast of North America. this leads to the destruction of citys 2 and 3(Los Angelous and San Francisco) and the fleeing of citizens from the crumbling new minicontenent to start what will become city 6, when the citys are renamed

2: the erecting of a citidel where the UN building once was.

3: the (ordered by the combine) work in city 6 by the lab gragg once worked in to create a better human for overwatchination, aka the white soldiers. but this resarch goes bad and the dna strands that made the new soldiers so much better escaped and mutated creating the zombies. the scapinping of that resarch and the begining of it anew, which quickly leads to the white soldiers.

the quarentineing of most of city 6 to prevent the zombies form getting out into the world. and breen setting up a tv show to make sure that people don't get to many ideas, and that any who do get thrown into the city. this little part is told on the flight into the city and can be seen by the modified scanners that have cameras on them

the mem pool i dont really know what it is, i meant you should look into it. but im guessing that it has something to do with your ram.

and if CS:S is anything like normal CS then info_player_deathmatch are Terrorist spawns, and info_player_start are the CTs spawns.

and you only need cubemaps in detailed areas usually, but it is usually a good idea to have one in your map anyway.

oh and for the cubemaps issue, you need to have cubemaps in your map, buildcubemaps jsut looks at the cubemaps in your level that you put them and does all the calculations for them

wait, wait, wait, why did you post this in both catagories of forum. and why in maps and mods did you press the button 3 times without letting your browser load+refresh, hence the three entrys there. and you don't have to say plz, or please, or any other term for plese, were here to answer your questions anyway.

now to solve the problem.

it seems as if its writing to the wrong directory. the e:/ thing threw me off at first since most harddrives use C. then i noticed that everything was in e:, so you must have multiple HDs or somthing. but anyway, it also looked as if it was saving the BSP to the SDK folder and not the CS:S maps folder, you might want to check your complie settings. and theres also the isuee of the 2 errors at the end of the bsp compile log, you might want to find out whats causing those.

my story keeps getting better. Jahzel, you know how in the summary i did almost nothing for the second chapter, well for rabid ive been writing it in detail, if it doens't end the creapyest, scariest chapter in the game then rabid will have done something wrong.

ya, i would definaly like a whole new monster for the zombies. but that might require some codeing.

and let me clarify on what i said about the not waiting becsaue that sounded a little, i can't remember the word i had thought up for it. i meant that i wasn't going to wait to see if you cahnged anything.

Rabid, im just going to send you all of Ch.2 when i finish it, which will probably be saterday. feel free to change the details of it.

and well also probably need new monsters for enemy gang members, we should just be able to copy the combine soldiers code and change it a bit.

and the combines might be in there normal black, urban camo, becasue there in a city. or in desert camo becasue the city is in the navada, arizona area.

humm...to wait for jahzels word or not...no, dm petrol alone qualifys you for this. ill whip something up that is a little more detailed of a part that jahzel couldn't posibly have changed much. accually ill send you two. one is a little more advanced then the other. but you will have to use current models becasue as you know we haven't really began that part yet.

headcrabs-(would like to get these out alltogether, but if we don't get a coder that) zombie ticks, attach on and suck your blood

black HC zombie-(only if headhumper arn't removed.) pretty much the same thing.

civilians- well some maintnence worker like people.

yes, we are continuing for hl2, its the only way this will work. and just becasue jahzel doesn't like you doesn't mean you wont be on the team, but it does lower your chances. but we need people with the ability to do stuff like that

ya. your in waht was city 6, so thats kinda the idea behind where they got all this stuff. and it was quickly quarentined by the combine when the out break occured, some military stuff was left behind. oh and i forgot to putr in that becasue i wanted to mail it on time that at one point during friends and anti-friend you are shown two maps. they are both on a table, they both are the same maps of the world before the combine. there is a pin in one of them somewhere near the arizona, navada, and california state borders. on it is also alot of scibling, one of the things that you notice on the map with the pin is that almost all of the west coast of the USA is reded out, with words saying that it sunk into ocean. and things like city locations and known facts about the combine controled world written on it.

glad you liked the story Jaz. :cool: isn't it sweet :cool:
are you going to send it out to everyone soon becasue we really got to get thsi mapped and modeled before HL3 comes out

ya we definatly need a website. and if its a programed website and not one of the crappy drag and drop things make a private forum as well as a public forum, private forum can only be viewed by those with the password. then we can talk about hte details of the mod without giving everything away to the general public.

oh right, one more thing.

i changed "Gang Wars" to "Highway 666" and named the unamed one "Gang Wars" since the unnamed one had some gang fights in it and the original one named gang wars was more about trying to follow a highway that two gangs controled oposite sides of, but that didn't fit very well so now it is the new way.

and has anyone on the mod team read stephen kings the dark tower series, becasue in holy city a part was kinda inspired by it and the person(s) who want to map that area(which might end up being the sweetest ones in the game) shoulkd read the part it was inspired from.

and does anyone want to start mapping becasue there are some parts that could be started now

and i keep doing this "and" thing alot don't I

summary is at version 0.5. each .1 represents a chapter. either tonight or tomaroh night i will send the 0.9 version to jahzel to do what ever he wants with it and name it 1.0.

and i will include the power plant as an optional thing. it will let you ride the tram around the city and explore, as well as go to an area that is not accessable without the power. although the secret area doesn't need to be headed to.

and Jahzel can we have a list of the mod team so i know what we have for abilitys.

and is there anyone else who might want to be on the team since this might take a while without more mappers

and since i designed this to not need a whole lot of new content it will have combine and such, but will all make alot of sense if the whole story was made available at this moument, but its not all typed up or written for that matter. but in my head i have gragg's jorney planed out from start to end. and you should also have an e-mail from me in a few days with the summary

im going to send a sumerized story for each chapter to you Jaz as soon as i get it typed up. im about 3/16 done with the full story, most of which is in school notebooks to be typed up. I will garentee you that if the mod team can keep the quallity of the maps and the integraty of the story up it will look very profesional. when I began writing it I specificly made it so it
a. doesn't requre an army of new models and texture
b. makes sence
c. entertaining and fun

so far it meets all of those. ive left alot of stuff pretty scetchy in some parts, like "...and he walked four blocks...". this is so the mappers have alot of freedom. the story i will send out to the team just conveys generic details and important story/ fun part related info. you will be impressed by it when i send it out.

and by the way i think we should give out the improved book format with the game when its done so that players might be able to read it and know where to go, because its a big city and if you have to get some where you will have a berth of a couple blocks useually to walk through. so it won't be completely liner.

depending on how detailed the textures are and how big they make the file size, yes it can increase download times. there si no technical limit to the amount of textures you can have, but anything more then what is needed is excessive.

i was thinking, if at the end of the Master chiefs jorney, if it would be a good idea to have him be preserved by the g-man. if valve would let him be used. becasue the g-man is slowly becoming an icon, if you put him in halo he would be come a legend.

he would then be known by preety much every gamer, and i would like to see that happen, mostly so i can rub it in my friends face that teh g-man came from HL.

what do you guys think, the g-man is a memorable enough character that just showing up at the end of the Halo series would make any one who saw him remember him

and if you have a slow computer don't do that with big maps, it can really lagggggg.

and if you have double monitors(i dought it but i do), i find it use full to stech hammer across both and have normal hammer on one screen, then on the other one make a window and have just one big 3d view on it.

well start practicing if you can, this mod will be no where near as good in HL as it will be in HL?. we need to get skills. im getting hammer within a week or two so ill be able to start.

this could put our names on the map if it comes out good. it is a great idea and the source engine was built for stuff like this. HL1 mapping isn't going yet, but HL? mapping is here and we need to use the engine for this mod

and i liked bruch work to mini, but if the SDK comes with a free model making program then i don't care what i have to use to make my maps.

its not really a cliff hanger ending, remeber how HL1 ended. but the good thing about the ending is that anything could be done in HL3, in some other time or place, it doesn't even have to invole anything but gordan and the G-man. i wonde if it will be the G-man using gordans sevices again, then at the end or near the begining of HL4 gordan sayes hell with it and sets out to find out the truth about the g-man

and why if alyx died then would gordan have to die to, if

time was frozen the moment the reactor exploded, and the g-man teleported gordan into "storage" again, what would cause gordan to die

and i do sincerily hope that he grabbed Alyx and has decided to use her services as well becasue shes a very memorable character

even standing right under it was fun. and wouldn't the explosion of a dark fussion ractor 5 miles over a city pretty much level the city and everything around it. &lt; im just guessing at that becasue i don't think its posible to make a dark fussion reactor, and im guessing that if you destableize one and make it explode it would be a big explosion.

i wish that after the credits you could see the explosion from a mile away, i wanted to see it go boom

want my gauss gun for that raid, i finished it yesterday. its fun to shoot stuff with it.

i will be getting steamefied hammer soon, but not soon enough, so all mapper id say comece mapping, make some buildings to be addded into the city later. modelers, make us some city inhabitants, zombies and gang members, both will be needed.

accually i kind of worded it badly. the simplicity of it is that to open the door the 9 key has to be pressed. but you cant press it until the key before it has been pressed, and that can't be presses until the key before it has been pressed. it accually works well if you tried accually playing it

if i understand you right you want to know why you can suddenly use the grav gun to lift heavy stuff and bodys and such.

well if you noticed when you were weapon striped the grav gun got zaped and got supercharged. hence becomeing a weapon of really cool mass destruction. but i still don't know what you mean by the valve thing like jax asked. that is waht really confused me
