you can't. it's completely impossible.
because the op4 source code is not public like the HL source code. the recoil is in the code, and you can't change the code. so you can't change the recoil.

system restore takes up unnecessary hard drive space and cpu cycles. it never fixes anything, and slows down installations that attempt to create restore points. one of the first things i do on a new install is disable it through start -> run -> services.msc, along with the error reporting service and windows messenger. besides your anti-spyware programs, the only other one you should have is tuneup utilities, which has a bunch of great applications for cleaning out the useless stuff on your computer and registry.

First, get Process Explorer. It's better.

Second, don't worry about the number of svchosts running, I have 5 running right now, and it's normal.

As for ep2, try increasing your paged pool memory. You can google it or there is a tool to do it for you here (I haven't tried it). Increase it to the highest (384mb) and reboot.

......wow.

first of all, jump on IRC if you ever need advice with spyware again, you don't need to pay anything for a good spyware removal tool. (for future reference: ad-aware and spybot, both free.)

second, cancel that credit card! i'm sure you already have.

third, your laptop can't be "dead" (not from a virus, anyway). the worst that software viruses can do is corrupt your windows installation. if the data isn't important on the laptop, throw in a windows installation disk and use the serial that should be on the bottom of the laptop. when given the option, do a full format.

fourth, the best software is often free. for security:
zonealarm: firewall
AVG free: anitvirus
Spybot search & destroy: spyware
ad-aware: spyware

it has to be in a different engine, meaning that you can make hl2 in gldsrc, and HL in source. you can't make HL1 in goldsrc.

well there should only be 4 cases of values (0,100,200,300) so using game_texts manually shouldn't be hard. but counters are more used for logic than actual user interaction.

i don't need external programs screwing my code up. it's more efficient than any "optimiser" could make it anyway. you'd have to be a really sloppy coder to have to rely on an "optimiser" to get your code working as it should.

also, the whitespace makes such a minuscule difference that it doesn't matter, and well-formed code is much more important than the 0.2ms difference that unreadable markup would make. a newline is only two characters, in the end.

it's not my code that is slow, it's the server itself.
