Hell of a game. Was actually physically exhausted afterwards. Mostly because I'd had 2 hours sleep but still. Couldn't keep my eyes open during the following GTA4 rampage with Archie and had to go to bed. :(

Congratulations Joebama. I do recall most of my arse kickings were delivered by yourself. :D

Nah, his opinion of the game is justified. It's HIS opinion. I just don't agree with the whole "I'll try a pirate copy and then buy it if I like it."

I was going to get Crysis 2 for example, but then the gameplay footage I saw on YouTube just made it seem so average so I didn't bother. No laws were broken and I saved myself some money. :)

On topic: My companion and I found a cave today. He stopped before we entered and said he didn't feel right about it. We went in anyway. A few minutes later, I was holding back 2 frost trolls but a third slipped by and killed him. After the action was over I dragged his body to a nice spot in the cave where the sunlight was shining in, placed his hands on his chest and lay the battle axe I crafted for him by his side.

Sound's daft, I know, but that guy saved my arse sooo many times. It's kinda lonely traveling without him.

I assume you are talking to people who own pirated games so I guess I can speak freely.

Don't
pirate

games.

You can easily judge whether a not a game is for you by reading reviews, or better yet, watching a let's play series.

Everyone has pretty much made the right point already, but just to put things into perspective.

You're talking about a free roaming adventure game with multiple story lines. My Managing Director used to work for Sony Entertainment and he recently brought in a design document for cancelled project. This game was intended to be in a similar style to Tomb Raider or Uncharted, a linear adventure game with a single story line. The design document was over 500 pages long and covered everything from concepts, level design, game mechanics the lot. This took over 18 months to put together and the company pitching the idea went bust before they could even start production.

Hell, look at Black Mesa. No sign of a release date after 7 years and over 30 developers who already had the tools available to them for the most part.

You NEED to start out simple. Daubeh's mention of Minecraft is a perfect example. Notch created what was essentially lego which could be played online for free, then he added the survival mechanic and kept building onto it. Now he's a millionaire with his own company which has multiple members of staff. (BTW don't ever get into an industry for the sole purpose of making money because that never works. You need to have passion, but it's obvious that you have plenty of that already. Just east off a bit :) )

This is just my opinion but Scientist Hunt seems to be the very meaning of pointless.

I used to fill maps with scientists and slaughter them all in my early mapping days. It was fun a couple of times but after that it's just the same thing over and over again.

It must be a conspiracy. That link Archie posted doesn't even work. I'll bet the site got taken down for terrorist material...

I'll bet "Blueberries" is terrorist code for "Bombs" and "Pick your own" means "Build your own". My god I've cracked it.

Has anyone else got Ambient Occlusion forced through Nvidia's new drivers?
My experience of telling NVidia control panel to take priority over the game's own 3D capabilities was not great. The game froze on the loading screens and when I finally got it to work none of the particle effects appeared at all. Fire, Water, even clouds. Didn't even realise this until I told NVidia CP to let the game handle it all.

You can not go that way, you can not go that way... God damn it, imma find i way to go behind the map!
In Oblivion it was possible to cross the border into Skyrim. You could ride a good 10 minutes into it before things started getting weird and finally you would fall through the floor into the infinite void.

Just a load of snow and trees, the just a load of snow, then just flat untextured geometry. Strange.

I'm going to go with "taller"

I'm considering working on a few skin packs, primarily for mobs. First job would be to make the villagers look less... well... you know. But after that I would make a selection of different custom skins for each mob.

If you guys are interested let me know and I'll post updates here as and when they come. :)

Battlefield 3, Skyrim and work are making this quite a challenge to complete. I've scrapped 2 maps already for being overly complex but I think the one I've got planned now is a keeper. Going to focus on mapping before worrying about custom content.

I might send a simple vanilla HL map as my Secret Santa and then release a more polished mini mod closer to christmas. Time will tell. ^_^

So, just as I thought this game could not get anymore awesome... my bow. MY BOW.

Ok, so not entirely my bow. I took it from a fallen Forlorn bandit from some fort when I noticed the damage stat was +1 higher than my hunting bow. A few hours later, I found a smithy and found that I could enhance it using a steel ingot. This took the damage from 16 to 21. I then looked into enhanting and disenchanted one of the axes I was carrying around but didn't use anymore. I then enchanted the bow with it using a gemstone (I forget which) and it now adds an additional 22 frost damage.

Then... what's this? "Name your weaspon?"... FUCK YES

So yeah, I have the unique weapon "Death's Touch Bow" which you guys can never have because it's mine. :P

That and I'm getting pretty good with it means that I can now stealth snipe most human / undead enemies and get a 1 hit kill.
