and if you can figure out notes/chords and put them to a music editor, its not much harder to learn to play the instrument itself
besides, its a nice skill to have really.

Im just saying an alternative to teleportation or die would be to let them have 100, but the fall be far enough that it would damage them too much to continue on if they didnt do it right. Then they would have to teleport back up using a close by teleporter, or if they made it correctly, go through a door-way with a 50+ damage trigger hurt and then go to a trigger-hurt with a negative value to heal themselves and continue on their way.

Because in my eyes, there is no possibly way to make a teleporter teleport someone before they die, without teleporting everyone else.

And thus that idea would work. Why would you want to kill yourself? Unless you could somehow check to see player's health is below 50, don't let them move.

Even more simple, you wouldn't need to teleport them, just make them have to jump into that room, with the teleporter back up, and the trigger hurt and such...

I kind of have something in mind, but its a bit sloppy and annoying.
If you make each jump do a maximum of 99 damage, setting the jump so it can't do more than that, then make the teleporter, teleport you to a box on that same level, with a teleporter that leads back up, and a door-frame with a trigger_hurt in front of it that does like, say 50 damage, and another outside the door to restore the health, the players that didn't make it would be forced to commit suicide or teleport back up and heal to try that one again...

if that makes sense?

I believe it said something about their rivalry in the games. I also think someone at Valve said they were rivals in an interview or such. I'd have to look it up.

Is your idea people against the students? Or is like, foreign military attack on the school, and players being the one's protecting it?

A.) I'm sure if it's the latter, it would probably be approved more easily.

B.) If you do plan on modeling it in any way like YOUR school, keep similarities to a minimum. New and different architecture, colors, environment.

Edit: Source would have less a problem with ovals then goldsrc would.

Is there a face limit for ovals in source anyone?

It was just a guess, this is Valve we are talking of you know, no one expected Eli to die in the end of EP2 either, who knows what will happen?

For all we know, they could destroy the earth and conclude with that, everything on and around it dead... although that seems unlikely, cause Valve is a bit more talented than that.

I can say, based on your idea of running back and worth and map transitioning, it's possible, but I'm not sure it can be accomplished in the way you want it. If one player changed maps, all players would, and I don't think there is a way around this at the moment.

Probably not Xen. It seems unlikely that the company that was essentially doing much better had would have to rely on Xen as a border world. The combine didn't come from Xen. How much would you like to bet that whatever world Aperture hooked up to, alerted the combine, and therefore made them come to Earth?

Yeah, I knew there was something in the back of my mind telling me that it wasn't a spaceship... that must've been it for sure.

Makes me wonder though, if it disappeared in earlier times, or more recently... that might also explain WHY it disappeared... I mean, if it got eaten up because of the resonance cascade or the portal storms...

well, since it's my mod, i can give it it's own style right?
so mabye i'll just replace the things it can't handle with other things or remove them completly.
mabye i'll replace sand trap with a small indoor area like nova prospekt (not actually nova prospekt, a map that should resemble it).
you've just givin me a lot of ideas here, thanks
I actually was quite fond of the sandtraps, as annoying as the level was, i believe, if you wanted to make it 'your own' and instead of replacing it, added more walls and blockades to block vision, and some twists and turns, it may actually work.

That Anti-Mass Spectrometer thing sounds like it could be a great possibility.
The mortar and crab synths would be amazing to fight, but maybe even throw in some more? I'm sure the Combine have captured more than just Earth. You'd like to think they'd have Vorti-soldiers and other alien planet creatures at their disposal.

Not to mention the combine will probably throw everything they have at you in this episode, so I'd like to hope for some new weapons, not "Magnusson devices". Those weren't a weapon, it was an object.

I'd like to see the return of Alien Grunts and bullsquids. Houndeyes maybe, but they were more or less annoying than anything, bullsquids actually scared the shit out of me when they came from behind or so.

It would be nice to fight with or against the Xenians (Vorts, aGrunts, and Gargs).

Anyone want to guess that this will be more or less a Gordon/Alyx mission, and instead be a full on war?

Edit: @Hunter's edit: This might explain why it has been lost for so long. Although it seems kind of coincidental that it crashed on Earth... who knows? And wasn't there some footage of a boat-like thing in the Arctic, suggesting it crashed and was stuck on the ice?

Not to mention, if you even want screenshots to show, have SOMETHING to show.
1. Your combine have no death positions.
2. Your environments as Urb pointed out are bland and resemble no HL2 environments.
3. You're wasting your time. If you do even complete it, you'll get an audience of maybe 5-10 people that can't play Half-Life 2 because they're computer sucks or they can't afford it, which is once again illegal since they don't own HL2.
