Hammer beta model 3d viewing

I have downloaded the new half life FGD and hammer beta, but i cannot seem to see the models in 3d view.
What entities are the models meant to display for?
i have used an info_tfgoal with the model set and it doesn't display
p.s. all models used are in my models folder

correction it is not the carve tool (carving is a big no no) thats the clipping tool

ok i was wrong about the wpoly count, but correct if i'm wrong but the epoly count will make the map lag like crazy, considering all the brushes will be entity brushes not world brushes. i am right?

your epoly count will be very different and your map will probably lag like crazy, where your wpoly count will be better, but this wont stop the lag
