The Red Cliff battle took place about 500 years after the Greek Trojan War.

The difference between the Trojan War and the Red Cliff battle is that the Chinese conflict has extensive historical documentation. That single battle determined the course of Chinese history and founded the Three Kingdom era.

The Trojan War was based primarily on mythology.

I watched Red Cliff last weekend.

It's a historical portrayal of a famous battle that took place in ancient China more than 2,000 years ago.

It was awesome.

If you liked "300", you'll like this film too.

I got this MP3 player for less than US$20 with the Newegg Shell Shocker deal.

It's the best $20 I've ever spent.

This baby sounds amazing. I can't believe it's only $20.

It's got a radio receiver, voice recorder, and you can store regular computer files on it too like a USB drive.

Such an incredible gadget!

I was trying to come up with the cast for the "Daemon" movie.

Clive Owen would play Peter Sebeck.

Halle Berry would be Dr. Phillip.

Edward Norton could be Matthew Sobol.

I can't think of a good candidate for Gragg yet. Someone youngish.

I wrote to the author, Daniel Suarez. To my surprise, he actually wrote back!
Hi satchmo,

Thanks for your kind note, and I'm glad you're enjoying Daemon so far.
I found your web site quite interesting, and I imagine your kids are relieved to have a parent who understands the appeal of gaming. Personally, I've long thought that modern games develop several critical skills in young people (when done in moderation) -- including team work, split-second decision-making, prioritization, etc, etc. But since I have no children, I'm careful never to express that opinion in front of someone else's kids.
BTW - I hope you're right about Daemon making a good movie because we optioned the film rights to Paramount and Walter Parkes a little while back. I'm hoping they do an excellent job with it.
Thanks again,

Daniel Suarez

I am reading "Daemon" by Daniel Suarez right now.

It's a taut mystery thriller. It's on par with "The Da Vinci Code". In fact, you can think of this book as the Da Vinci code for gamers.

The story centers around a game developer that makes multiplayer online games. It's like Blizzard with an evil twist.

I think all serious gamers should read it.

Apparently, she collected more than a hundred thousand dollars of disability money from the government to pay for the procedures.

And I have no doubt that she'll collect much more from us taxpayers to pay for all of her children that she's unable to provide herself.

I couldn't find the console command that hides the weapon model.

In HL2, you can just switch to the crowbar and swing it while taking the screenshot. The model swings out of the way completely in full crowbar swing.

But hacking the machete does not do that. It remains on the screen.

That machete gets in the way of a good scene.
There must be a console command that gets rid of the weapon and hand model in FarCry 2.
