stabs Zombie in the face with a salty penguin .. stop hijacking my thread already! :)
Thanks for the link, though. Is hammer the only editor out there?

@PaLO: this project is going to take a looong time anyway. Our pcs are in the same room, so I'll have to work on this when he's out.
"hey, what are you using that editor for?"
"oh, nothing....."
"let me see!"
you get the point ;)

In other words, waiting for hl2 is an option. I plan on familiarizing myself with the more.. technical? aspects of mapping in the meantime.

I'd be glad to hear more opinions/tips/ideas.. even those involving penguins.

Thanks guys! Actually I was hoping you could also indicate some other useful sites, since I (obviously :P ) already found this one..

more questions: What editor to use?

Wait for hl2? While it looks a lot better, and will apparently be mod-friendly.. is it a good place to start? Dunno why but I have the impression that it will be a lot more complicated than the original..
And of course there's the small detail that my pc is simply not 133t enough to run it.. that needs to change though

Opinions?

cheese alert!
I want to ask my boyfriend to marry me. Heh. Yea. Stop laughing!
Being the nerd that I am I want to make a hl map with a 'marry me' or something equally mushy at the end.
</cheese>
..
Didn't i tell you to stop laughing? Get back on your chair and help me! :P

The problem is that I am a complete n00b at this whole level-building stuff, and after doing a good half hour of googling the info available is a bit overwhelming. Most 'tutorials' assume you know what you're doing, which i dont. This site is the only one I could find with a couple of beginner tutes.

So help me get started? Please? :)
