in How do I turn sound off in HL2? Post #76644
I have a very simple map with a lot of action (barneys shooting zombies). I get a lot of errors about the game being unable to allocate sound, and I suspect that the miserable frame rate is partly because of the sound (and at the very least would like to know whether this is the case). How do I turn sound off completely in HL2?

in got one wall? Click on the Ignore Group Post #72660
I deleted and recreated the cube, and it works fine now. However, that's not the kind of solution I like.

Unfortunately, the tutorial explains (right after what I quoted) how to open Texture Application mode, and then explains how to apply using that dialogue (and that actually worked). So if that's the wrong place to be where's the right place?

BTW, thanks for the quick reply.

I'm doing "In the Beginning Part 2" now. Setup and part 1 didn't go entirely smoothly (for example, running with Steam), but I managed to get the purple box. With part 2, I managed to change the texture of the box, but then the map exits immediately (the game doesn't get into it at all). I suspect (though have no way of knowing) it's because the texture is 80x80 (there's no way I'd be able to select the texture you mentioned, because the drop down list cuts all the names -- so I just picked one that starts the same). I tried to change the texture, but now I can select only one wall at a time. The tutorial said "Select your cube. Only got one wall? Click on the Ignore Group button." The button doesn't change a thing. What do I do?
