The steps have the same curve as the wall but you cant tell from the screenshot. its kind of a weird looking thing on paper i guess

I was thinking of hosting a competition. I have been away for several years now and just got back. I have a map that i wanted to port to source but i just got caught up in life. I have the textures and all that moved over but never got the entities and water working. What are the rules for this, can i even host a compo? details to follow, but i think the winner would get a cash prize.

i like this site it has lots of valuable information. while i do have some complaints about functions, its hard to say anything when there are really no other places available. It is pretty hard to break in here, and im not so sure thats a bad thing. Someone said it takes hours to get things answered in here... are you kidding me? if someone cant wait a few hours then screw them. it beats the hell out of waiting days months or years at other mapping sites that overall blow (with teeth)!

its this one for me. playing guildwars in the pvp arena. the pic i got is 125 wins but we actually got over 140 consecutive wins. had to stay up all night to keep winning and i actually called in sick to work so i could keep playing. until we all just decided we could never lose. it was a blast. i wish i could find my final score screenshot. oh well.

it does seems to crash anything i just dont want any errors

zeeba-g i read your posts and it is obvious what you are trying to say is that you spent lots of time on your map and you are disappointed that it didnt fair better. I admit saying gameplay is crap doesnt help you out much in the way of getting advice on how to improve things. but if you bash others maps without taking the time to appreciate what they did i think you will not be met with very many positive comments.

the only reason i say this is because i take criticism a little too personally as well. im trying to understand the statements so i can improve but sometimes people dont comment with much tact.

man im sad. i misunderstood the rules i thought it was remaking the game, not just a level based on the game. i thought it was a mod or something i dont know. i wish i had entered my gg_battlecreek map. can someone look at it and rate it just for the hell of it? i would like to get the feed back on it. thanks

I generally know what a mod is, however, what is classified as being a mod? What kind of limitations are there? I was thinking of ideas but i'm not sure what i really need to get it off the ground. i can map and make textures, but what do i really need?

I want to get some police cars for my map but i didnt want to make them. I know prefabs are generally frowned upon but im just talking props. would someone be willing to make some police car models/brushes for me to use in a map. i guess that's it. thanks. do we have or can we get a download section like this for twhl? It would be nice to have a donation area from some of the great mappers here at this site.

everyday. and everyday i try something new. i have about a thousand shitty maps that will never see the light of day. i just dont have the imagination and creativity that most of you seem to have. it took me forever and a day to make my dm_templefalls_cz map and i used textures from Sock on the wadfather. i now spend half my time on textures and the other half mapping.

yeah i compiled with full vis in these screen shots. urbanebula im not sure i understand what u are saying, but the room that is cut off is near the end of the building and there is a wall and stairs that are cut off completely u cannot see them in the screen shot.

stixmaster i have made a few maps for this type of mod. i made them for gungame but they work great with deathmatch and halo mods. random spawns are built in. anyway here is a link to the maps. the best ones are going to be gg_pyramids and dm_templefalls_cz and gg_bridge_teleporter. i realize this maynot be just what u want but... i hope it helps. if not i will be glad to make a map for you.

I just wanted to say thank you for keeping this place going. When i first started mapping i really was clueless. I'm not saying i am a master mapper but i can sure tell the difference in my work from a year ago. There are so many deadlink sites yet this one is still here. Most of you have been helpful to me in some way or another. Not trying to kiss up, just saying thanks because it is truly appreciated.

here are some of the textures i have made recently. speaking of tiling, once i get a single tile, i make new layers and edit inside keeping a border. check out the sands textures to see what i mean. it always scrolls nice but the pictures are different. last few pictures are not textures.

this has already been done. it is called fun_matrix or something to that effect. there are several different mini maps and at the start of each new round a door opens and u go to the next map in sequence. i suggest you check it out. there are 2 maps with similar names and they both have the same thing going on.

if u run a batch file you could tell it to copy the map more than once with a line like this i believe...

copy mapname.bsp "C:\Steam\SteamApps\EMAIL\counter-strike\cstrike\maps"

im not sure if u need the first pause or not. this should allow u to copy to your normal maps directory, plus a backup directory, and then launch the game.

im trying to make a city type map, but things keep fading in and out. i dont think the distance is more than a map such as awp_rooftops. i would like to make the viewable distance greater, but im not sure how to do that. would hint brushes help this problem?

some things dont work the same. and because of a promotion at work i cant really take time to do it right now but i want it to get done. as u can see. in cz i used the addative feature but in source it is GONE! i also want more realistic lights and would like it to be a little lighter. one of the biggest complaints i got was the map is too dark in cz. please if u want to help me on this play my cz map and check it out. then you will have a better feel of it. http://twhl.co.za/mapvault_map.php?id=4897

I made a map for counterstrike and am porting it to source.
