VHLT has fixed errors that I encountered in SHLT 3.9 and there are some cool entities for texture lighting available in VHLT as well. I have texture lights turn on and off via a switch or trigger.

is it possible to include a custom sprite into my bsp during compile or some other way? This is for goldsrc mapping
