You can restrict weapons with an entity setup. but i think it prevents buying...
How?

in CS 1.6 Weapon restrictions in a map Post #297091
I didn't think this was possible, but today I played the map as_tundra ( http://www.cstrike-planet.com/maps/225-as_tundra ), and it has an incorporated restriction for certain weapons. I.e. as a terrorist you can't buy the semi-automatic sniper, scout, or the 4th rifle (called Krieg in my version).

How do you do that? I thought that was only possible as a server setting, but I didn't set any restrictions when I ran it.
I decompiled the map and checked the entities, but didn't find anything.

Also, does this just restrict buying that weapon or does it fully restrict that weapon in a map? Because I'd like to make a map in which you can't buy awp, but there is a tower in the middle of the map with an awp on the roof.

P.S. Coincidentally, is there a way to set the amount of ammo you get when you pick up a gun spawned with the armoury_entity? I can't seem to set it to anything other than the default 1 clip in the weapon + 2 extras.

The Bourne Supremacy

Quite a good movie, one of the best of its kind in my opinion (better than Hitman anyway). Although I still liked the first one better.
I especially like how he has a couple of original tricks up his sleeve other than just the usual stuff you see in all these movies.
It's no James Bond but all in all it's a good movie, I think it deserves an 8.5/10.

Trapt is right about the HP movies, number 6 was definitely one of the best.
If you say so, then I instantly believe it.

@trapt, ok, I'm not going to argue about the rest, I guess I can agree to disagree (I don't even remember the first two HPs anymore), but how was the 6th one amazing? They just threw out every part that wasn't a love story between the main characters. It ended up being more a romantic comedy than anything else.
Though it may have been that my lack of enthusiasm for it was also partially caused by the fact that I was sitting next to 5 kids under 8 who kept giggling during all the not-funny parts and talking out loud during the rest of the movie.

As for scary movies, yeah, they're pretty much crap. I just said they have a few good parts (though I can't really remember any of them right now).

Why only 7/10?

2nd choice; EQUILIBRIUM
I liked the idea of the story but some parts weren't so great. The action parts are pure win though. Most of them anyway (not the 'final showdown' though lol).

Other than that:
The Matrix (the only matrix movie - there is no such thing as a second/third part)
LotR (all 3 movies, I think they're very well made)
Minority report (probably the only tom cruise movie that I really liked)
Harry Potter 1-4 (5 was so-so, 6 sucked big time)
Bourne trilogy (haven't really seen all of it)
Gawn in 60 seconds
Scary movie 1&3 (some parts are really funny)
American history X
Star Wars

And many others. Mostly action movies though.

Maybe you should give the BEVEL texture a try, its very much like NULL, but also decreases clipnodes.
So when I finish my map I can do Select All->Replace NULL with BEVEL and it will be better?

in A couple of modelling questions Post #270180
1) Do models stand (by that I mean that they don't fall through) on clip brushes? Yes? OK.

2) How exactly is the ingame model size defined? I mean, the space that the model occupies ingame is not the same shape as the model itself, it's a cuboid (or whatever it's called).
For example while the player model is a human, the space the player occupies is a 73x33x33 cuboid, I think (or 37x33x33 if you crouch), even though the model itself isn't 33 units wide.

So what about if I make a chair or a helicopter or a key, how large will the space that it occupies be?

3) How do I make and more importantly compile an animated model? (I have Milkshape and 3dsmax)

not many of them actually contribute, or even ask a question/post a map.
I do ask a question every now and then and I really appreciate all the help I get from you guys as this is the only site I know of where I can ask more advanced questions and expect to get an answer. But currently I'm modelling a Eurocopter Tiger and there's not much I could ask about that, it just takes a holy shit lot of a time... Although I'm almost done, I just need to texture and test it.
Otherwise I'm working on my first real map, which I hope will actually be playable (I've only made a couple of fy_ maps and while they're fun to play with bots, they're not exactly great maps). I just hope it won't be too big for the engine to handle.
It will take quite some time (I'm guessing I'll be done sometime in the Summer as I won't have a lot of time in May - a lot of schoolwork), but when I'm done, I'll be expecting comments and critics from you guys. :)

What I would appreciate a lot would be if someone was to make a 3rd part of the modelling tutorial, showing how to make and compile animations, how to texture more complex geometry (which I think is promised at the end of the pipe tutorial) etc.

In short, if this site dies, so do I. Kind of. :P

Yeah, I managed to do it. Turns out I somehow copied the plugins for 3DSMax into the plugins folder of Milkshape and therefore I wasn't able to export to .smd. I fixed that now.
Also I now know that 8 bit bmp = 256 colour bmp (stupid me, I thought 2x8 instead of 2^8).
It works fine now.

I just have one more question. What exactly do bones do and why do I need them? Because I need to know how to place them for my chair model.

in .mdl without QC script Post #265966
Since I can't get the QC script to work, I'd like to know if there's another way of getting a .mdl file from a 3DS Max model or a Milskhape model. Can I just save it as .mdl?

EDIT: nvm, I found the problem.
3DSMax->Milkshape->QC script = Bad
3DSMax->QC script = Win

in gmax question... Post #265682
I finally have some time to return to this project. I managed to make the box (though it's not textured yet) but now I can't export it. I extracted all the plugins into the plugins folder but I don't have 'Valve HL2 SMD' under file types when I try to export.
Is it allright if I choose 'All types' and just give it a .smd suffix or is smd something other than half life models as well?

Also when making a texture, do I select the 256-colour bitmap or 16-colour bitmap?

EDIT: I managed to export it with milkshape now but now I can't compile it. I copy-paste the QC script and edit it as it says in the tutorial but when I try to compile it, it just says (in the compiler) that all tests were passed but then I get a Debug/Send/Don't send error report message and there is no .mdl in my project folder. The compiler doesn't close though.

Anyway is the grid in milkshape set to the correct settings by default or do I have to reconfigure the settings?

Maybe start a new thread?
Yeah, I might try that next time. But in this case it was a similar subject, so...
1)google "clone objects milshape" A lot of the results are for milkshape tutorials for The Sims, but you'll be able to use many of the techniques--such as cloning brushes(objects) in making your HL models.
OK, thanks I'll have to check the techniques on the other computer.
2)Not sure what are acceptable wpoly counts for Half-life. I think as long as your in-game performance is ok you should be fine. As you become a better modeller, you'll find what are the most efficient ways to build things.
Well, the problem is that I map for CS (multiplayer) which means that someone might have a worse computer than me (although it's highly unlikely, but it's still possible) and then it would cause problems to him even though it would work fine for me.

Yeah I managed to make the pic no.3, I can't make the number 2 (the one with the curved outer boxes). Anyway I need to first get home before I can try out anything else.

The vertex thing works even if I don't convert it into an editaple poly. But the face extrude just won't do anything.

in gmax question... Post #263685
Just go to vertex mode and ctrl-select the outer vertices on both ends, and drag them down. (for the third set of pics at least)
Ah, I couldn't find the vertex mode, now I found it and this of course makes it really simple.
This seems um, pretty simple to model, i mean if you can't even make this in gmax you might want to consider some very basic tutorials on how to use it.
Yes, I would definitely need some tutorial which would explain all the tools usable in gmax, this is the first time I use it. But I've tried googling and found nothing that would be on less than 50 pages and would explain all the tools, or at least the ones that are used the most.
For the secod set of pictures i would just extrude the end faces out, and then weld back the extra vertices to get the desired shape. I know there is are many other ways to do this, but that's just the way i would go about it.
OK, but I can't seem do anything with the Face Extrude tool... Whatever I input, however I move the xyz axis thing, nothing happens...
And btw why are you bothering with gmax anyway. hasn't it been unsupported/dead for quite sometime? What game are you modeling for?
I thought you were supposed to model any complex geometry because the game can support more epolys than wpolys...
I'm making this for a CS map.
