I have a friend who just got hl2 and we wanted to play cs together, but the problem is I cant add him to my friends list. He has already added me, but when I try to log on to my friends list it just says "Connecting" forever. Any ideas?

Indeed, teh VALVe system is pretty shoddy. I'd recommend Xfire over it.

yes ive tried restarting and valve offers no help on their trouble shooting site. looks like i will have to resort to something else.

Try xFire, it's really easy to use and is better than Steam Friends imo.
