I do! My part looks like it's going to be similar to yours, only underground. Great work, Unbreakable! Perhaps you could point me to a tutorial on how you get those lights to do that (the spotlight effect) or give me some hints?

Yeah, actually I tried it for the first time on this map, and was surprised at the effect, and how well they looked, I'll make an example map.
And yeah the grunts where reskinned by me.. so if you want to use them let me know hunter.

ye hs5a_beta (just so we dont get confused with the final map and the beta 1 lol :P ) i am trying to get my func_illusionary to work : so far i got a c1a3yello 8 sided textur thingymagig that i can walk through lol :D

cool. I love the func_illusionary effect..lol. Yea, check out them textures, not sure about the ones I downloaded, but I was making a miniature city when I downloaded them, so just take the wad files with city type screenshots..etc.

right i am trying to make a cliff face with the clipping tool but it keeps on telling me that when i am done it is a 'invalid object' what should i do? : :confused:

delete it and start again.. its the same thing as what u did with the pillar... for christs sake. learn from your mistakes. dont keep doin them and ALWAYS Alt + P before compile.

You need to make sure that you clip it cleanly, try to avoid too many clip lines crossing over or they will become too small, too many and inevitably, an invalid object.

Thanks lol you didnt explkain it over the phone or msn so it made no sense what so ever, i am in the middle of making some tubes which will hold liquids and stuff its taking me ages but i am hoping to have some cool lighting to come along with it ;)

nice... you'know the room in the middle.. just in front of the player_start, you should put some sort of fifties style lab in there..

I have some cool console prefabs...
search fif in the texture filters

I have already added some crates and stuff (like exploives and ammo) but later oan i have a room which could look like 'a fiftes lab' but i cant make theese tubes for 1 reason THEY LOOK LIKE HEXAGONS lol, i have made some which look like hexagons and then i realised why cant i try it with a cylinder with 'more sides' so i tryed it but of course it come up with invalid object : ill need help with that hunter ;)

Hmmmmm Hunter i was just re-reading my storyline on the hostage situation website it says 'as scientists direct you to a BIG beast of a machine' The only problem is i dont know how to make them 'take' me to the machine?????

Don't worry Killer, it's a lot to learn. At least you're mapping, just keep doing it, the experience will come!

I dusted off my version yesterday and added a few sexy things, like lights and sprites and some supports to make the place look a little more interesting.

2 questions:

How do I post screenshots in these forums like Unbreakable?

And where is a good place to get photorealistic textures, or at least ones that look as sexy as yours do, MuzzleFlash? I'm stuck with the original Half-Life ones, and they aren't as nice.

Muzzle Flash, I have no idea which of those textures I've downloaded, just download the ones that look like good city textures(look at the screenies) are in it, because thats what I did..
I am almost complete of 3/6 maps..

Shit dude, its hard to see what textures you used. Can you send me the rmf, so i can make my part in the same kind of atmosphere as yours? Because, out parts are both in a city, and the city should be the same.

Allright. I started rebuilding my part yesterday. In fact, complete restyle should be the perfect word for this.

As you might know, my whole part will be cinematic sequence, meaning you'll see this map through a trigger_camera. The camera start in front of Gordon Freemans appartment, then the camera goes inside, down the hall, to the elevators. Then it'll ride the elevator to floor i-dont-know-yet. The camera exits the elevator down the hall until it stops in front of Gordon Freemans room... More will come later.

Quick note: I got rid of the Poke646 textures for the inside look of Gordon's appartment. I am now using the textures from de_morningstar. These are much better.

Unbreakable, i still don't have the rmf. I need it as a reference for my city part.

Also, i made small mistake. Let me quote myself:

Not true. Only the last part of the map will be playable. After Gordon has left his room to get armed and packed, the player will take control of him when he exits his apartment, ready to go to Barney's house, and that should be in Unbreakable's part.

i believe the plan was that the end of muzzleflash's part would be playable, player enters an alley in between two houses <START hs2a_beta> get out of the alley, into the city and tyhen try to find barney.

By the way for the cool light effect, I used a trigger_inout entity, with two larger sprites it would trigger on and off. (on when entering, off when leaving.) Just thought you guys would like to know that.

okay heres the plan for may.

I want (by the end of may) for everyone to have the basic structure of their map. I want a playable beta .bsp from everyone. After that, We'll compare the ends of previous maps to the starts of next maps and make sure they all join cleanly...

After that, we'll work on detail/triggering.

There should be no aliens until chapter 4 and by the time player gets to chapter 6, the human_grunts will have been overpowered and slaughtered by aliens.

I need an actor to play G-man. My m8 can do it.. okay-ish but i could really use someone better.

End of May, check. I can do that. But don't try to push it up sooner please, I'm really fucking busy right now. I am working on my final project for programming, we are making a Mortal Kombat-esque fighting game, and I'm in the middle of making a model for him. I'll be sure to post a few pics of him when he's done for you all to see, I'm very proud of the current progress.

Not to mention Physics and Calculus tests happening sparatically all over. I am done with school May 19, and will have a lot more time to map starting then.
